I was thinking about his situation, waiting to see if the Jazz pick up his option, trade him, or cut him...kind of a dick move by the jazz waiting until the last minute. Money and jobs are drying up so if we decide to part ways he'll really be left with minimum options. As bad as it was to wait 6 hours for Hayward to man up, the Diaw situation is a big joke...Jazz either use the money or move on. They have to know what they are planning on doing, Lindsey supposedly is a few steps ahead...just thinking out loud.

Pro sports is a deadline business. If Boris is going to be traded, it will most likely happen within 24 hours of that deadline. If they don't trade him, then I hope they keep him. No reason to get rid of him at that point tbh. Keep him unless you can find an upgrade at the position or a player with a high upside to fill the roster spot.

No one would offer Boris more than the vet minimum on the open market. The guy is 2 years past being 2 years past a decent player. He had a few good plays for Utah last year, but was mainly just a minutes eater to cover for injuries.

I do wish Utah could have pulled of a deal sooner, though. But maybe they're involved in the Carmelo Anthony talks as the 3rd/4th team.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Denver will be all, "Damn, we never would have signed Millsap if we knew Diaw would be available."

Diaw is a borderline NBA player at this point that would have been one of the last players signed when a team missed out on other players.

For all we know, Utah may be in the middle of trying to work out a trade, such as the rumored 4 team deal with NY trying to move Melo to Houston. Diaw's contract is valuable as an asset, and therefore it would be dumb to throw away, especially since we just took a huge hit in losing our 2nd best player for nothing.

Overall, dumb comparison to Haywood's game of eeny meeny mynie moe.

But those spin moves! It was like watching a sumo wrestler pirouetting in some horrific version of the Nutcracker. I expected news flashes to announce a 6.0 earthquake, then to be followed by a retraction, explaining the "epi-center" was at Vivint and it was just a false alarm.
 
Supposedly, Toronto is interested in Diaw's expiring contract.

Would you do Diaw for Cory Joseph straight-up?

Or Diaw and Favors for Valanciunas + pick?
 
With the second year not being guaranteed I'm fairly certain Boris knew this would be the outcome. I still think he was a fun guy to have around but it's time for him to be a professional wine taster. The note he sent to Jazz fans was classy. Perhaps he could have tutored others on how to pay his respects.
 
It's nothing like the Hayward situation. Hayward knew days possibly weeks or months in advance that he was going to Boston. And he played the Jazz until the very last minute giving them false hope and wasting their time. That's not what is happening here. Boris has already issued his goodbyes on social media. Which means the Jazz have informed him that they are parting ways. And they did this just a few hours after agreeing with Jerebko and Udoh. The only reason it is not official is because the Jazz would prefer a trade. If they can't find one I'm sure Boris's agent is already planning meetings. Won't be hard for a class act like Boris who brings a ton of experience to a team to find a new home.
 
I'm sure Diaw knows what is going on. He knows he'll be cut by either the Jazz or the team he is traded to. His agent is probably already talking to teams where he maysign afterwards
 
We waited until the last day to use our cap space on Rubio. We will probably wait until the last day to trade Diaw.

This means we are trying to sign Jonathan Simmons. Holy cow what an addition that would be. We would have the hardest working team in the league.
