Why does Portland offer a Jazz player a contract then trade the player right back to the Jazz? I think a lot of us would like to see these trade posts have a little reasoning behind both teams pulling the trigger rather than coming across as one-sided free kicks from two feet out without goalies.

Why give him a chance when you can trade potential for proven? Do you think Hayward has that much upside?

Pretty sure he is right. They can trade him on December 15th or something like that but cannot trade him to the Jazz for 1 year from the day he signed, or something like that.
