Looking at this season it seems to me that the biggest problem for the Jazz is the lack of a bona fide starting center. Both Favors and Kanter are PFs and they get destroyed by any real quality center (Drummond, Pekovich, Cousins, Gasol...). There are very few teams that can reach the level of contender without having a big, imposing body in the paint...and they usualy do it by having a superstar on the LeBron/Durant level.
So, were can the Jazz get the quality starting center? It looks that there is just one in the coming draft and he is very likely to get selected first or second. The best free-agent centers are Pau Gasol, Gortat, and Hawes. And, of course, it is very hard for a team to obtain a starting center through a trade. Of course, we have Gobert, but no way he will be ready bang with Gasol or Cousins in the next couple of years (if ever) - if he becomes a good backup center I would be quite happy.
So what should the Jazz do to get their center if they miss on Embiid? Sign Gortat or Hawes? Try to trade Kanter or Favors for a young center? Cross their fingers and hope that Favors and Kanter can play the center position by committee?
