In the winter of 1950 during the Korean War, the Communist Chinese Army stormed across the Yalu River with 30 divisions totaling nearly 400,000 soldiers and routed the Australian, British, and American armies in Korea. The Chinese are still making movies to celebrate the time they kicked the American’s tails.
General Douglas MacArthur wanted to use atomic bombs against the Chinese to counter their massive numerical superiority but President Harry S Truman stopped him. That decision has also been covered in film on our side of the Pacific.
At the same time President Truman was taking the ‘L’ in Korea, members of his administration were caught receiving gifts in exchange for favors. Over 160 employees around Truman either resigned or were fired. The chairman of the DNC was charged with financial corruption and Truman stepped in to fire the special prosecutor who had filed the charges to make the charges go away.
I bring you this situation from 70 years ago to give some idea of what one has to do as President to be less popular than Joe Biden. Of all of our Presidents in the past century, only Truman had less popular support than Biden does at this same point in his Presidential term. Biden may not be the worst there has ever been, but he’s close.
