Conservatives on this board: do you think this video is unfair to you?

Maybe the main difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals can stand to listen to 20+ minutes of that ****.

See if you can listen to it.

I did without a problem. It’s clearly presented with a biased lens but it was an honest attempt to state how and what the producer thinks conservatives believe.

I had disagreements and agreements from nuanced to large.

Such as America being a constitutional republic instead of a capitalist democracy. Nuance and not the point of the video.

I agreed with the blame falling on them making them uncomfortable bit when describing how they can blame those above them.

Also obviously a point about how being a white male is clearly beneficial.

I disagree on the base implied premise of the video being the “alt right playbook” and then being about conservatives at large. Clear attempt to paint all conservatives as “alt right”. Then in the end paints the connection between the two. Bleh.

That’s just off the top of my head.

But do yourself a favor, check your ******** for 20 minutes, and watch the damn video. Then come back and have a decent conversation

@Joe Bagadonuts and I say that because at the end of the day isn’t it beneficial to listen and learn? Even if what you see and hear you disagree with? Sometimes not talking and listening is the right approach. Even if you disagree with what was said it helps gain understanding of the other side of the argument. And that right there brings us closer together.

It's part of a series of videos about the alt-right; however, it is a very fair point that it should have been better titled.. I fully acknowledge the bias, but I was having trouble seeing past that bias, since I share a lot that bias.

And further reinforcing my point. Are all conservatives now the alt right?

Are all liberals on equal footing with antifa?

Thanks for the video. I’ll watch his others after my kids leave for the night.

Edit: I edited this as I fell into the dumb word association trap and it changed the intended meaning of my reply.

Absolutely not, and I think the maker of the video would acknowledge that. He said he was describing a greater tendency, as I understand the video.

A great deal of it rang true for me, but I am not a good judge.

Ya, that video is pretty much trash. It started out like it might have a point but eventually missed the boat all together.

It pretty confirms how I think iberals think.

Here is the problem with this guy's argument.

He completely leaves out ability, effort, risk, and coordination when he tries to explain the problem with capitalism.

What Liberals do not understand is just how hard it is to run a business or innovate. The reason why socialism cant work is because not everyone will put in the same amount of effort, time, risk, money, etc..into a project. There huge varying degrees of ability and effort from one human to the next. Its demonstrated every day.

The other huge problem is coordination. People coordinate and are willing to do something because of incentives.

Good ****ing luck trying to get people to work together and put in the same amount of effort if everyone is paid the same and there is no hierarchy. This right here is the main problem with the liberal utopia ideas.

Im sorry, but I have worked with plenty of unmotivated dumbasses to know that I want nothing to do with socialism.

Yes the guy who dedicated his life and worked 15 hours a day 7 days a week trying to get his business off the ground deserves the rewards of so much sacrifice he put in to make it happen. The stoner idiot who puts in 8 hours, half asses his job, deserves whatever the hell the guy who started the business willing to pay him.

What do you think. We can just put anyone in charge of running a complicated huge engineering firm? Just draw straws out of hat something.

He completely leaves out ability, effort, risk, and coordination when he tries to explain the problem with capitalism.

Why do you think those are problems with capitalism?

At any rate, the video was not discussing problems with capitalism. It was discussing mindsets.

What Liberals do not understand is just how hard it is to run a business or innovate.

Because only conservatives open businesses or innovate? Like well-known conservatives Warren Buffet and George Soros?

The reason why socialism cant work is because not everyone will put in the same amount of effort, time, risk, money, etc..into a project. There huge varying degrees of ability and effort from one human to the next. Its demonstrated every day.

The point of socialism it that putting in more effort, time, risk, money, ingenuity, etc. into a project should be more certain of being rewarded, and less up to luck, connections, and previously existing power.

Good ****ing luck trying to get people to work together and put in the same amount of effort if everyone is paid the same and there is no hierarchy. This right here is the main problem with the liberal utopia ideas.

There was no discussion in the video or everyone being paid the same, nor of removing workplace hierarchies.

I wonder if you watched the video at all. Can you even reference a point it did discuss?

You really think Buffet and Soros are truly anti-capitalists? Ask them to give their money away and see how that goes. They are both frauds. There public position contradict their real life policies.

Being successful at business is hardly luck. What you failed to put together is the correlation between effort and ability. Just because you put in a lot of effort doesn't mean you should be rewarded. Bad investments and bad ideas, are just that, bad, and should die the harsh death they deserve.

The whole video was about how unfair things are and the pyramid(hierarchy)idea is bad. I didn't miss anything and dont need to spend anymore time watching that waste to break it down for you.

Im not saying that the current system is perfect. There is always room for improvement. There are holes in the idea that allow people to take advantage of it and take advantage of people. But it still works 100x better than any socialism idea could ever dream of. Im open to idea to help things. But not open to the constant idiotic bashing of capitalism. The system has helped everyone have better lives. Its slowly but surely bringing the entire world out of poverty. Every single American today lives better than poor people in America did 200 years ago. Even the last 50 years has dramatically increased the standard of living for everyone.

The whole driving force behind socialism is laziness and jealousy.

God. If I was obscenely rich like Soros, Kraft, Walton’s, Koch...

I’d buy a brand new fully loaded sedan every week. then put a duffle bag containing 1 million in the trunk. Pull up to a random house of some lower class to poor family. Knock on the doors and hand them the title and keys. Tell them to look in the trunk. Jog to a follow car, get in and drive away.

I think I would too

Sure I’d read stories about some dumbass that died that weekend from a cocaine and hooker fueled heart attack.

But I’d also read stories about some single mothers life who was changed and her kids graduated and got into college...

I stopped at 1:33. Making arguments for conservatives as imagined by a liberal, not at all the arguments conservatives make.

But isn’t it helpful to learn that this is what liberals hear or imagine from conservatives? It’s a starting point if nothing else.

100 % IMHO :-), but i guess that most of the people turn kind of crazy, if they suddenly receive that amount of unexpected money. Pretty soon they have discovered a lot of extra previously unknown "relatives", "friends", "business people who know what is the best way to invest money" etc etc.
Of course, assuming you receive 10 billion - if you give away 1 million per week - then that will take 192 years assuming you want to give away everything :-).
For me, i will pick up even 10 cents from the street should i find it, but i guess for it is mentally better to receive much less. For example, in Estonia, when you consider the general prices, one million USD can get you pretty far assuming that you have job which is not eating nerves etc. and want to have a low profile lifestyle i.e no need for supercars, fancy villas etc.

I made it 11 minutes in. I guess if this is the alt-right then I never really understood the alt-right, and literally no one I know is alt-right even a tiny little bit. But I stopped when it basically said that conservatives just want people to be put in their place. That's just ******** generalization and intellectually dishonest and lazy. But it is a good example of collective back-patting.
