Haven’t seen this mentioned. Not sure all the possibilities but it’d be taking on a huge salary commitment. Like a Simmons. What could we land for the expiring Westbrook deal?

NYK probably couldn’t get enough matching salary, but taking some of their salary dumps and some of those protected picks they have.

Simmons is the only deal that would remotely be a possibility.

no we could do Lowry and Robinson... it always comes back to ****ing Robinson... I'm sorry.

I would not take Simmons unless the draft comp was phenomenal. I would consider it for other deals... price has to be right.

Robinson/Lowry could be a thing as mentioned. I would personally be fine with a Ben Simmons deal.

Unless we're trying to make a run at Trent Jr or Van Vleet, our cap space is mostly going to be useless or only useful in taking bad salary anyways.

WB for Lowry/Robinson/Jovic/1st?

New vet PG mentor and an interesting prospect/1st for Robinsons terrible contract?

You make some wild assumptions... there are lots of FA and lots of other ways to use cap space.

I hope not cuz I just can't stand the guy but the price would be Simmons/DFS and two of the unprotected picks they now own... or they can eff off.

He just posted this. Is his source my thread?
I've already explained this... Monty talks to Mike... Mike talks to me... and I talk to Monty.... and this is one of our burner accounts... it is triple sourced.

I suppose you could make a trade into cap space. I'm not going to pretend that there's a bunch of FA we can/will get. I've looked at the list, those two are the most attractive and reasonable gettable targets. If it takes significant draft compensation to use up our space next year I think it is a mistake. I do not high high hopes for the cap space so getting reasonable compensation now would be good business IMO.

I sneakily kinda like the Suns '23 pick, they've had some injury issues and the West is tight, and they just dealt the only guy who'd been holding it down for them.

There are many guys we could sign or work sign and trades for with our space. It doesn't have to be limited to two guys or just taking salary dumps.

Name them. I've looked at the list, have you? I hope you know that when I listed those two guys, they were not literally the only two possibilities I had thought of. We can't just put an ultimatum out there that we can't ruin our cap space without considering what we could actually do with the cap space. There are only a handful of guys where you can say it's reasonable that we could convince them to sign here, and I would also value the contract we'd give them more than a first round pick. Yeah we would hope that we land someone like Grant Williams or Thybulle in a S&T....but the chance at getting that is not some crazy opportunity.

If you want to say that the cap space is super important, tell us what the plan is and why it's actually realistic to get done.
