I am not a fan of any particular NBA team so I've been watching the games of all NBA teams over the years thanks to NBA League Pass. So I know all those other announcers and commentators out there. Some of them are poor even annoying. Others are interesting but lack knowledge or honesty. Or they're too biased. I've been watching Jazz on Root Sports last couple of years and I believe Boler & Harpring are easily in the top 20%. What do you think?
 
Haven't listened to many others. One thing I do know, Houston Rockets announcers suck donkey kong. Last night the three (THREE!) Houston announcers were talking about the best power forward in history. One said, and I f'n quote, "Karl Malone spent a lot of time flopping and writhing on the floor, so he can't be the best of all time. For me, I think that Elvin Hayes was better." And the other two agreed.

I think one of them was Calvin Murphy. He who had 10 children by 9 women. Almost got a double-double there, Cal.
 
I love em both.... good voices and and they make me laugh.

A lot of the things that people hate about them, I just find humorous.....which to me is a good thing
 
Worst by far is Miami's, GSW, Boston. Don't crucify me, but I actually enjoy Lakers announcers, Raptors Jack Armstrong is great as well. Matt and Boller are ok, neither terrible nor great.
 
I've always been a fan of the Clippers broadcast (BINGO!!!!) and also the Kings. They both are homers for their teams... but they both give plenty of respect to the other teams.
 
I like 'em. Boler, from last night's broadcast, after a hard foul on Hayward: "Lopez, the 7-footer, 255 pounds-- he will not hesitate to bang you."

I find them annoying, but I do agree that they know a lot about the other teams and respect them.
 
Houston, Denver, and Portland are the worst. They all bring the same negative vibe and spend too much time whining about the refs.

Matt and Boler are homers as well, but they keep their act pretty kindhearted. It only gets a little awkward when they start to scold the Jazz for taking bad shots or not playing Jazz basketball, whatever that means.

Calvin Murphy is alright, he doesn't do the play by play anymore. They have Matt Bullard and Clyde along with Bill Worrell. Bill is the worst of that bunch.
 
Considering the blatant homers and the incredibly irritating hacks out there, I think Bolerjack and Harpring are the least of all evils. I can tolerate them.
 
I'm a big fan. I don't know who the jazz had in the past, but they must have been pretty incredible to justify the hate these two get. xxxo

For all the crap I give them they are ok. Just barely ok. But it is this that bugs me the most. Boler only knows one word. "Bang". He bangs everything. They banged in the bank shot, banged in the 3 pter, banged in that layup. Lopez will bang you. Everything bangs everything in his world. Is it some freudian hangup or something? And he obviously doesn't know the game. Harp helps here, but Boler gets 1/2 to 2/3 of the plays wrong. Sometimes I wonder if we are watching the same game or if he is watching game film or something and calling that on accident. It gets annoying so I usually listen to the radio broadcast while watching the game if I can.

I really miss Hod Rod and Booner.

I noticed this watching the Portland game the other night. They were showing the tweets from each broadcast group. The Portland group was constantly bitching about one thing or another, and at a point before we collapsed and we still had the lead, and LA had like 12 pts and Kanter had 20 or so they tweeted "The Jazz just have no answer for Aldridge. 12 pts on 4 of 6 from the field." What? So LA's 12 is worth more than Kanter's 20?
