Cyrone/Verlin versus Franklin

Are these posters not arguing for opposite things? Is a pull up jumper ridiculous or smart?

Cyrone:
"Burks doesn't play because he tries to do too much on offense. Guarnteed he would get more time if he didn't take ridiculous pull up jumpers and out of control takes to the rim. In a close game, you can't really risk playing a guy who may randomly decide to go 1 on 1."

Verlin:
He has all around talent. I'd like to see more of it. I agree with you though that those pull ups early in the clock re brutal.

Franklin:
My concern is Hayward getting the ball at the 3 point line, with no help, 4 defenders in front of him, and he still thinks he has to drive to the basket. These ridiculous decisions are becoming more frequent.

It's the same thing when he drives past a defender into the paint and refuses to pull up 8-10 feet out. Instead, he does the same thing by charging full steam ahead and getting into trouble. He needs to use his head and slow down.

All we need now is for one more idiot to pull either Stockton or Hornacek's lane shots into this and we'll have a real dogfight on our hands. All players are created exactly equal down to the precise lie of hairs on their very heads.

IMO, you took 3 peoples quotes fully out of context, nothing more. There are circumstances that are different for each player and each SITUATION. I honestly cant say I understand the point you're trying to make with this thread.

Did you notice that the biggest play of the game last night hurting the Jazz was an offensive foul ?
You don't get called for offensives if you shoot a pull up jumper.

Over the last few games Millsap's jumpers have not been falling. He has shot very poorly for him. I would want Millsap to pound the ball inside.

You say that you do want them to shoot jumpers so that there are no offensive fouls called. Is that a game long strategy? Only in crunch time? Either way if you have an outside game only you are going to lose alot of games.

So , is a pull up jumper ridiculous, or is not pulling up ridiculous?

As Bohdi pointed out you are painting with so broad of a brush that your question is stupid. Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

...if you have an outside game only you are going to lose alot of games.

I absolutely did not say I wanted them to take all pull up jumpers, or only have an outside game.

You guys shoulda seen the poo I took this morning. wow.

Both Burks and Hayward should develop floaters.

No Bodhi, you are wrong. They were making general statements about whether a pull up jumper is good or bad.

It depends on who is taking the pull-up, when they are, are they balanced, is their defender right in their face, etc. A lot of factors go into if a shot is good or bad. Alec takes a lot of out of control, out of the offense jump shots.
