David Locke podcast appreciation

I just wanted to say I'm loving the podcasts that David Locke has been putting out. His interviews not only include Jazz personnel but other teams players and coaches thoughts on the Jazz as well.

Also wondering if anyone knows anyone else doing anything similar too D. Locke's podcasts.

If he'd figure out his audio issues to make it play at the same level as every other podcast, I'd be more grateful. Plus, he gets too geeked into the numbers and spreadsheets - impossible to follow on audio and frankly of little interest to me ... boil it down.

That said, I do enjoy it until he goes into the spreadsheets.

I enjoy. Even the spreadsheets on audio because he describes them.

Sometimes he gets very pissed at fans for their reactions to Ty, the season, etc. I like that he has passion, but sometimes he is unable to see that someone can have very valid reasons for disagreeing with his viewpoint. He often oversimplifies the viewpoints he disagrees with, which is annoying. But, all in all Locke puts out a really good podcast--much better than most team affiliates are doing in the league.

I enjoy the numbers game. I agree that like baseball and football the metric stats are becoming increasingly important to the sport.

yes. yes. yes. yes. we need to email him. if he dedicated 3 minutes of his spreadsheet prep to tweaking the levels correctly it'd go a long long way.

locke has plenty of other issues - ie. the way he aggressively responds to journalists critical of ty is baffling - but for sheer level of content and access to the jazz, he's pretty amazing.

and yeah, the salt city hoops guys are mostly really good. those utah jazz podcast guys are a mess.

I love them and appreciate his dedication. This is perfect for people like me that don't live in the Utah market.

i appreciate his effort, and i listen to 2-3 times per week, but jezuz, he becomes the biggest tool in the world if someone says something negative about Ty, the organization, or his views.

He just tweeted that over the last 10 games Burks gets to the FT line on 18% of his possessions. As compared to 16% for Harden and 15% for Durant.

That's an elite level.

Locke is the rarest of breeds: a megalomaniac who is also a company guy. I find it laughable that he pumps his own Locke Rating despite no background in statistics or mathematics, and no other person in the universe who regards it seriously. His opinions of Jazz players are always tinted by his personal relationships with them. And I defy anyone to find any quote where he has ever questioned Ty.

But I applaud his ambition and passion. He's a good guy. I listen to his daily youtubes because I'm a fan, and I don't care if he's biased or wrong a lot of the time. For his sake, I fear he dreams the national media will someday embrace him, but he definitely has a long career as a small fish in a big pond.
