East Coast start

Hello! New member here, although I've been a fan of the Jazz since i can remember. I remember bits and pieces of the Stockton & Malone era in the 90's but i was pretty young then. I believe our team this year is very capable of securing a 6-8 seat in the playoffs, I believe we will go as far as Hayward and Gobert can take us.

Anyways, I was just looking over the schedule for the season and I was curious what everyone thought about the beginning of our season this year. I don't ever remember a season where we started on an east coast road trip let alone the first 3 games on the road period.

Is this bad or good? I personally am not sure. I sure hope we can beat Detroit and Philly because those two teams will most likely be very bad this season but at the same time the statics shows that the home team wins their season opener more often then not.

Against Indiana it will most likely come down to how good Paul George and Gordon Hayward plays.

So is this unfair to the Jazz? Or would you consider it a favorable schedule for us?

Hey Jenaragu - welcome to the board, great to have ya!!!

I personally think having a road trip (especially a relatively easy trip with Detroit and Philly) is good for the team camaraderie. Imagine if we start with a 3-0 streak and coming home, that would be a HUGE boost for the team's moral. Detroit is still rebuilding, Philly isn't in contention and the Pacers are still figuring things out with Bird wanting to play PG at the 4 and without a real Center. .

IMO there is a very good chance we start 3-0 on this trip and I'm confident we can pull it off.

Keep in mind this is the Pacers minus Roy Hibbert and David West.

3-0 is a very realistic start.

I don't doubt that we are better then all 3 of those teams. But it just seems the Jazz often play at the level of the competition instead of just playing at the same level at all times. Which is why it makes me question their ability to win these games against these teams this early in the season.

If these games were later in the season after these teams morale would undoubtedly be low from losing so much, I wouldn't worry about it. But every team is going to be hungry on their home game season opener.

Gets some road games out of the way out east.

Jazz will only have to play 12 of their last 79 games in the Eastern conference. And the three games are against projected lower ranked teams.

Because the eastern teams are inferior...I would prefer playing more of the western teams early (before some of them hit their "stride") and loading the back end with the weaker Eastern Conference teams.

I like that it is a unique schedule for the Jazz. Has a fresh feel to it to go with our playoff hopes. I also believe that the Jazz can start 3-0 and actually hit 5-0 before their biggest test on 11/07 when the Grizz come to town.

I disagree since most of the tougher Western conference teams are more experienced and it's the Jazz who need more time to hit their stride than the other Western conference teams.

Hopefully with last season under their belt they've grown out of that.
Welcome to the board! I expect a very strong home record this year and hopefully at least .500 away. I think it will take at least that in the West to make the playoffs.

Welcome to the board!
