Enes Kanter's Potential

I was reading online that the "best case scenario" for Enes Kanter is Kevin Love. Now i completely think he can be as good a rebounder as Kevin Love, but is his offensive game, shooting and face up game good enough (or have potential to be that good) to call this a fair comparison. I really have no clue about Kanter so i'm asking this from the viewpoint of someone who hasn't seen much of his play. Or, after watching him for a season, do you see him turning into a different type of player. Just interested.

Kevin Love would be absolutely peak of best case scenario I would think. Even with Enes' best strength being his rebounding I doubt he ever ends up cleaning up boards as well as KLove does. In the offseason I really hope they work on his mid-range work because he showed during all the combines last year that he has the ability to step out and knock down shots. I think he can be a solid mid-range shooter as time goes on, but not to the level of what Love can do burying a good amount of looks from behind the arc.

I agree with this. Kanter has a MUCH better mid-range game than he is allowed to show right now. Its just not what he is asked to do and I don't think he's the kind of kid that "coaches be damned" wants to get his. He'll do what they ask until they are comfortable with him shooting within the offense. But I have no doubt he will be an offensive weapon to even 20' out at times.

Kid is just scratching the surface, I'm telling you.

Love was like the 5th pick so you can't compare. To find comparables to Enes you need to look at other top 3 picks like: Darko, Okafur, Bogut, Bargnani, Morrison, Oden, Beasely and Thabbett.

So the good news is that in 4 years the Jazz should have no problem signing him while staying under the luxuary tax.

IMO if you took Nick Collison's devotion to non-stat rewarding skills and nastiness and injected that into a Big Al who can work on either side of the hoop you have Enes' ceiling. Maybe with a better J too.

if he turned into kevin love, i'd be absolutely giddy. don't think it's going to happen though. not only is kevin love waaaaaay better, but they are different types of players. love is more of a face-up player, kanter has a more post-oriented game and less range on his shot. so not only do i think the quality comparison is off, but the style comparison too.

Kanter's defense is already better.

sure, but that's why i say -- they are just completely different players. a better comparison for kanter's style (post game, defense, etc) is like a spencer hawes or roy hibbert. the big thing is he just needs to learn to use his size. lately, favors has been doing an impressive job at "opening up" when he goes to the hole to basically be bigger. kanter learns that one trick and we'll start seeing him convert those easy opportunities and putbacks in the paint.

He will be twice as effective when he stops bringing the ball down to his waist to gather himself.

yeah, that's largely what i mean. he has a tendency to "shrink" when he gets the ball, whereas favors opens up and seems to "expand" when he explodes to the hoop. part of that is the difference in athleticism, but even without favors' tools i think kanter can get better at playing wide, playing big and making his size an advantage.

Until we get some floor spacing Kanter will continue to struggle scoring. He is swarmed once he gets the ball within 5 feet. Jefferson is as well, but he stays a little further out than Kanter so can still operate.

Remember Kanter said he saw himself as a mix between Dirk for his shots, Dwight for his toughnes, and Pau for his post moves?

What was he smokin?

Jk

I think that he will become that MegaMan dude he dreamt up.

Lets go Eenes the Peeniss

That wasn't cool was it:confused:

https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/b...-the-best-player-in-the-draft?urn=nba,wp5415s,

he said, in the nba, he likes shooting of dirk, toughness of howard and skills of gasol , not that he is like those. What were you smokin when you wrote this post? Just weed i hope

Well Kanter says he likes wrestling maybe he will work out a lot and gains some more explosion. That's all he is lacking really.

He said in an interview later on that he was asked the Question who's game do you admire and later on they changed it in editing. He claims to never have stated that he has the game of all those people combined.

Actually it's cool. Have you ever seen the t-shirts that the wildcats fans made which has "our enes is bigger than yours" written on it? You can google to find a pic that kanter wears one. :)

actually what he is talking about is probably a montaged version of his interview that has been made for some little speculation about him. in the short version, you get the feeling that he's thrash-talking about those players and that there's no player like him in the nba. actually, the interviewer asked him if his game has any resemblance to any nba player. kanter's english was beginner level and what he meant with that line was he just doesn't copy any nba player to get better.
