What's new

Everyone. Let us write in..

Why? Sure Trump is entertaining, but Clinton will stick to delivering her cliches like a robot.

I'm not sure he will let her.
If he doesn't come out all guns blazing and accusing her of the most off the wall **** ever (and forcing her to go on the defensive), I will begin to believe the garbage conspiracy theories surrounding he and the Clintons creating this whole thing to assure them the White House.

I'm still voting Hillary. If every state was a viable swing state we wouldn't have these tragic primaries. I don't think there was a single candidate this time around I could have been proud to vote for.

Damn it bernie, you should have ran as an independent
You're saying that he should have become independent and run against Hillary after losing the Democratic nomination? I think there are a lot of reasons he would not consider doing that. He's obviously got a lot of sway in the Hillary camp by going this route and he's probably got perks headed his way for being a good soldier.

If you're saying that he should have run as an independent in the first place (rather than going Dem) I think you're overlooking that almost nobody knew or cared who he was until he suddenly grew a spine in that debate before the Michigan primary. If he'd run independent I'll bet most people would never have heard his name. The Bernie thing was a crazy phenomena that I believe surprised Bernie as much as anyone else. (Same for the Trump thing, BTW).

I looked into that a month or so ago and found this website helpful: https://lwv.org/content/who-will-elect-president-electoral-college-system

Specifically:

The first item is the biggie. So the Paul Ryan & House Republicans couldn't choose e.g. Mitt Romney out of the blue if he hadn't won any electoral votes. It would need to be a choice between Trump, Clinton, and Johnson (assuming Johnson turns out to be the spoiler).
Johnson is not going to win a state. So here's the plan. Everyone write in Fish. Tell your friends and neighbors. Pour everything into helping him win just one state: Utah. Then pray like hell that Clinton and Trump split the vote so closely that Utah prevents both of them from reaching 260 and that no other insurgent candidate wins a state bigger than Utah. Next, Fish will need to take a trip to Washington to meet the new House of Representatives and turn on the charm. This is practically a done deal. Fish for Prez!

In other words he poopoo'ed his pants and vowed down to the establishment. Let's call things for what they are.

Pretty much this. Some of the Bernie supporters are pretty pissed about the whole thing. Somehow they've managed to keep most of the anger outside of the convention since Bernie conceded. I don't know how they've done that. Bernie made passionate requests to his fans in regard to this, but it stuns me that all of them are willing to do as he asks.

Outside of the convention I've seen video of very angry Bernie related demonstrations.

I may actually do this. Giving serious thought to it at least.

It is time my brothers and sisters. It is time for The Saints to fulfill prophecy!

Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 7:15 — Will the Constitution be destroyed? No; it will be held inviolate by this people; and, as Joseph Smith said, “The time will come when the destiny of the nation will hang upon a single thread. At that critical juncture, this people will step forth and save it from the threatened destruction.” It will be so.

Fish could honestly win the campaign in Utah if there was enough money behind him. That guy is charismatic as any. He would, however, have to sell out to moderate himself and I think he is way to hippy for that.

You miss the big picture franklin, it's Wall street candidates vs. non-Wall street candidates. I used to have you as the most savvy, intelligent poster on JF.

^lol
The "by a single thread.." is epic.

Here's more info on the quote by Joseph Smith, if you're interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Horse_Prophecy

Specifically, it's a little iffy and not part of official Mormon doctrine, but still believed & accepted by a lot of church members. As Wikipedia puts it: "The authenticity of the prophecy as a whole, which was not made public until long after Smith's death, is debated, and the leadership of the LDS Church has stated that "the so-called 'White Horse Prophecy' ... is not embraced as Church doctrine."[4] However, the belief that members of the LDS Church will one day need to take action to save the imperiled U.S. Constitution has been attributed to Smith in several sources and has been discussed in an approving fashion by Brigham Young and other LDS leaders."
