What's new

Game Thread Feb 22, 2025 07:30PM MT: Houston Rockets @ Utah Jazz

Added to Calendar: 02-22-25

He does and by a significant margin: 6apg vs 3.9 for 2nd place.
Well, to be honest, it has to do as much with the situation at the Jazz as with his skill. Collier had the luck to land at the team that has no point guards whatsoever and does not care about the wins so the Jazz are happy to give him all the development minutes in the world. On any semi-decent team Collier would be buried deep on the bench.

I also loved the save off of the Kessler block.
That was awesome. Sequence of the game for sure and one of the best plays of the year

I'm not gonna lie. Despite being full on team tank, I was having a lot of fun watching that game and was actually kind of rooting for the win.
This season if the jazz and BYU are playing at the same time I have typically watched the BYU game. Last night BYU was playing a close game with a ranked team on the road (Cougars won by 1 point) and I chose to watch the entire jazz game and miss the BYU game.
I was AT the game and was still checking the Jazz score and box. Not to take away from the BYU game which was awesome!

Kessler: 5-5 11 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists in 33 minutes (ESPN box score stupidly doesn't show blocks)

Jazz need to sit him for the rest of the year lol. He is probably the biggest tank killer on the team.

I still think the Jazz have a far better future outlook than the Rockets. Outside of Amen, I dont really love any of their guys. I think they missed on two #3 picks in Sheppard/Smith. Not huge misses, but Keyonte as the 16th pick > Sheppard and Walker > Smith as the 22nd pick.

They really propped that group up with FVV and Brooks… as well as having Udoka who will get guys to play hard. The ceiling of that team might not be bonkers unless they pull off the KD or Booker trade. Not sure we have a far better outlook unless the ping pong balls fall our way this year or next.

Amen/Sengun are studs, but neither can shoot, so it just makes building their team kind of hard, especially with how flawed defensively Sengun will be in the playoffs

I'm not even sure more than 50% of fans/media know that FVV plays for the Rockets. He gets 0% credit while their young players get glazed. Dude is one of the most impactful guys in the league.

Sengun is such a weird player.
He is like the anti-Kessler (of last season). Can be an absolute bully on offense while completely lacking all assertiveness on defense. At least Kessler has looked like he has turned a corner this year being less of a finesse player on offense.

You combine their best skills and qualities and you probably get a real super center.

The crazy thing about Sengun to me is that him and Jokic and are both listed as being 6'11 on ESPN, but I swear Jokic looks/feels two inches taller.

i think jokic has freakish wingspan which is why he seems so much bigger. and one of the many fairly subtle reasons he's so damn good. (edit) i'm a hack - just saw fish said the same thing two posts up.
