What's new

Fes

The question isn't how many points he scored in the off season, but how many cigarettes he's smoked. I heard he cut down to two packs so he may be dominating this year.

Didn't he also have like a 2 point 2 rebound effort in a lot of minutes against Bulgaria.

To be clear about one thing: Fesenko's contributions aren't really measured by the box score.

Two games in which he had an extremely notable impact:

1. February 20 point come-back against the Blazers. Fesenko was a key in forcing it into overtime and in winning in overtime. Final line: 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks in 25 minutes.

2. Game 2 against Denver. Completely crucial on the defensive end. This board was buzzing with praise for him after the game. Final line: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 5 fouls in 20 minutes.

Fes is a true case of "you have to see it" to know how he played.

I hope you're not saying big box score only equates to a good game and a bad box score equates to nothing and you had to have watched the game.

EDIT:

And that second example screams of a type of game Ostertag would have been crucified for.

No. I'm saying that if all we see for Fes are boxscores we're really seeing almost nothing. I have no idea how he played in his good boxscore or his bad boxscore games.

I'm far more concerned with a DNP for him than I am for a 2 pts, 2 rebounds performance.

If other Jazz players are scoring and grabbing rebounds, obviously Fes's numbers go down. It's what he does with the OPPORTUNITIES he has in a game.
If this was AK,I'd be worried, as he is a big star in Russia and could get an outrageous offer to stay in Russia. Fes barely get's PT there, so I don't expect him to be getting much of an offer.

Or they just expect him to sign the QO like Miles did the 1st time.

The problems with this is then he becomes a unrestricted free agent after next season. If he does happen to have a breakout season (a man can dream cant he?) we will have to pay him much bigger money to keep him than if we just give him a 3yr/6 million contract.

I agree with you they should try and lock him up for a few more years because he is a young player. But this is not how the Jazz have done it recently.
