Fight at Bulls Practice Leaves Mirotic Hospitalized

I'm talking about a hypothetical situation whereby somebody uses a non-deadly force on you, i.e., a hard slap or a shove. I'm saying that shouldn't automatically enable you to pull out a gun and shoot the guy and be able to qualify that action with "I felt threatened".

See Trayvon Martin case.

Someone can kill me with their bare hands, potentially. So if I feel my life is threatened I can use whatever means necessary to stop the threat.

Cy, I'm pointing out how ridiculous the state of gun rights and self defense laws are in the U.S.

OL makes the reasonable assumption that one must employ a "ladder of force" (look it up if you aren't familiar with the term, and I'm pointing out, just like you did with the Trayvon Martin case, that the reality is that you can pretty much use deadly force based on whatever you say you felt.

It's hard to tell when people are being sarcastic on the internet sometimes.

I was being sarcastic above fwiw. I don't own a gun and am pretty much a pacifist.

Also, did you guys hear what this fight was over? Hysterical.

What was it about? I'd only heard it was during practice, both guys fighting for starting spot and it got heated over thrash talking.

There's a rumor that the fight started because Mrotic spoiled the latest episode of Ballers for Portis. I doubt it's true though.

8 game suspension. I was expecting a bit more, like 12-15.

Well it was in self defense. Also the Bulls have an incentive to keep the suspension low as to not lessen Portis' value if they do choose to trade him at a later date.

Something with Bulls and their players fighting during practice...I remember 10 years ago M. Andriuskevicius ( a 7'2 stiff I had a chance to play against once ) was punched by A. Stowey during Bulls practice and spend forever in hospital after suffering broken skull and concussion. A. Stowey was suspended indefinitely and eventually waved by the Bulls after that incident.

I expected him to be cut. Jazz probably would have or trade him. Guys "charge" at each other in the heat of competition, friends do even, get in each others face, but throwing a hay maker about killing the dude will get you in jail. If Mirotoc never threw a punch then that wasn't self defense according to the law with what Portis did.

Uh, if I feel threatened, I feel threatened and I'm gonna take out my gun and settle the situation.

Seriously, y'all Aussies all that wimpy?
This actually kinda makes you sound like a ***** (cat) to be honest.
