Following potential 2014 draftees

I'll have to do a little more digging into Vonleh. He stuck out to me when he played in the Nike Hoops Summit last year. But please, let there be some more top-flight players in this draft, because I'm starting to worry that at least one - if not two - of the consensus top-3 might stay in school.

Pelton: I find myself leaning toward Indiana's Noah Vonleh as the better freshman power forward. On a per-minute basis, their numbers are fairly similar. Randle is the better scorer, but there are a couple of reasons to favor Vonleh. First, because he reclassified, Vonleh is almost nine months younger than Randle and won't turn 19 until next August. Noah Vonleh, who has stepped up his game in recent weeks, is getting praise from scouts.
Vonleh might not have the "star" potential of Randle, but I tend to believe he's the stronger bet to be a solid contributor in the NBA.

Ford: It's not just the numbers that are starting to lean toward Vonleh. In the past week, I've had several NBA scouts tell me that they are now leaning toward him over Randle. That's a major change. Vonleh has been regarded as a top-10 pick, but this is the first time I'm hearing teams project him as a potential top-five pick -- and getting drafted ahead of Randle.

Why? He's bigger and longer, which are two factors that scouts obsess about. He also has, in the past few weeks, stretched his game out into the perimeter. In his past four games, Vonleh is 7-for-9 from behind the arc. His stroke looks really pure and he's beginning to look comfortable on the perimeter.

He also has a higher rebounding rate than Randle on the defensive boards. Plus, he shoots nearly 20 percent better from the field at the rim (70.1 percent to Randle's 50.2), he's more accurate on his 2-point jumpers (40.9 percent to 36.6) and much more accurate in his 3-point shooting (55.6 percent to Randle's 11).

So Vonleh is younger, taller, longer, shoots better from the field and possesses a better rebounding rate than Randle. The question we really should be asking ourselves is: "Why exactly is Randle ahead of Vonleh on the Big Board?"

We should conveniently forget that Randle is playing against double and triple teams and teams are basically designing their defenses to stop Randle - and most importantly, because of that strategy, things open up for UK's other players and they are winning basketball games because of it. But yeah, comparing Vonleh and Randle is apples to apples.

I'll take the guy who gets doubled a tripled making the game easier for teammates and gets you wins. Teams will continue the double and triple Randle because if they don't, they might as well throw in the towel - to take Randle out is their only shot.

great point. if randle developes a right hand also he will be unstoppable.
 
Vonleh also isn't facing double-teams every time down and getting mauled in the post. I take Randle all day. You can not-pick and analyze every which way, but the guy is a double-double machine and is more alpha than Vonleh will ever be. He's a bully, and in my eyes that counts for a lot. It's why I take him over Noah and why I like Embiid, Parker and Smart over Wiggins.
 
If the presidency of the Aaron Gordon fan club is up for grabs, I would officially like to take it.

Would not be disappointed at all if we land him.

Would it really shock y'all THAT much if Gordon ended up being one of the top 3 players to come out of this draft a few years from now?

Ugli can only PREZ for obscure maybe-2nd rounders. (Bongo, I.e.)

No, it would not surprise me if Aaron ended up being a stud. I've always liked him around 7/8.. but that's not a dissss.
