What's new

Halloween traditions are thoroughly Christian

What's dumb is for any of these to be labeled entirely of one tradition or another. They are blended and changed over time, as is almost every aspect of culture. The Christians were known to adopt and adapt local cultural events to ease often forced absorption into Christianity, so there are bits and pieces of all of it in these major cultural events. Some "pagan" (which to me is a misunderstood term and has come to be used in stupid ways) bits here and Christian bits there. Even the Christian bits are mixed and weird because Christianity is splintered (even within the vaunted "Universal" church, every area still had their own unique approach to the religion) and every group has their own traditions, very often colored by local myth and folklore.

And the piece reads pretty slanted, just my impression as more of an agnostic.

Slanted in what way?
