What's new

Hassan Whiteside

Stifle Tower

Punch Bowl Re-Filler
Having himself a Rudy-like season after being out of the league for a couple of years. I was actually high on him back in 2010 but Utah didn't have a pick in that range, having traded their late first to Philadelphia to get Korver.

15 mins/per, 7 pts, 6 rbds, 2 blocks. Followed up a 23/16 game with a 15/9/5 blocks. Has scored in double figures in the last 5 games as he's now getting 20 mins +. Gobert might have some competition for most blocks next year if Hassan continues to improve and get major minutes.

What team is he on?

Almost another Linsanity story. I love this kind of stuff because it goes to show what can happen in life when you believe and continue to work hard. He's no Rudy, though. There can be only one.

Or it shows you what can happen in life when you're drafted by the Sacramento Kings.

Talk about redemption on your part.

I remember you pimping him from reading old draft threads. Looked bad for a long time.

Bump.
Hassan with a triple double today: 14/13 and 12 blocks!

was there...

it was brutal

there was actually another one that they took away due to a shot click violation

(AND I think he did that in under 30 minutes playing time - something like 25 minutes iirc)

Whiteside autos are going crazy on eBay. I acquired a bunch of his autographed cards in junk lots for .50 each. Reselling them on eBay now that he's putting up crazy stats.

What are Whiteside autos? Was that spelling error, and you meant cards? Or short for autographs? It just looked weird cause it makes you think cars.

Anyways, good idea.

Of course had the Jazz drafted him, maybe it would be the same situation. They would have kept him for a couple of seasons, cut him, and we'd have someone else to talk about as "the one who got away" besides Wesley Matthews.

I've been hit and miss on my draft picks.
2010: I wanted Xavier Henry over George/Hayward. But I did say Aldrich would be a bust.
2011: Got talked into Enes.
2012: n/a. Jazz traded the pick to acquire Big Al.
2013: early on was high on Adams and then trading up for Schroder. Then settled in on "reaching" for Schroder at 14 (because mocks had Adams going before #14) and drafting Gobert.
2014: didn't think Exum would be available. Was high on Vonleh at #5 (over Gordon).

Not sure if it's been brought up here but...

1) Is Hassan an UFA at the end of this season? If so, what do we think he will fetch on the open market?
2) Would we rather have Hassan or Kanter? I presume most would say Kanter because a) a lot of people here like him b) he compliments Rudy and Favors better

rudy vs whiteside will be interesting to watch. rudy will destroy him tho

Whiteside looks like he has more physical power on the ground and elevates surprisingly well considering his slowness in his jumping motion. Rudy is a lot more athletic on jumps than him. Uses his arms a lot faster than him. Both live under the rim 0-3 feet. Interesting for sure.

Broke Zo's franchise record too.

People in Florida are shouting out for him to start. Familiar reaction of a fan base, isn't it?
