How can the Jazz really get rid of most of the veterans?

Can someone please explain to me how everyone's dream scenario on here of the Jazz trading away most of the veterans for picks/young talent can plausibly happen? With the new CBA does not every team have to carry minimum percentage of payroll to the salary cap? I remember reading it will eventually hit 90 percent of the cap, and is it not like 60-70 percentish this year? If so, how can the Jazz get rid of most of their highly paid veterans?

I think you've misunderstood. I don't think anyone is advocating trading all of the vets -- that's ridiculous. Most of the talk has centered around severely maiming them, kidnapping them, or somehow tricking them into forgetting when the games are.

It's more or less a pipe dream. You can't go into full rebuild mode under the current CBA because rookie contracts will never add up to even half the minimum.

Lol. I guess we could give them another team's schedule with a Jazz logo edited on top. ;)

I do think that we don't need Harris, Jefferson, Bell and even Watson. None of these guys are performing up to par yet. At least the younger guys have an excuse. Our new guys also have an excuse.

Harris, Jefferson, Miles, Bell and two 2nd rounders for Rondo and Garnett's expiring.

Boom. We lose our ****heads, get a true point guard, and Garnett for one season to teach our youth how to be badasses.

Bell needs to go tomorrow. Harris, and Big Al are on thin ice. They don't look prepared to play pro basketball.

Rondo is paid for four more years. Yuck. Jefferson for Diaw and Portland's pick works better.

Or Jefferson for Jermaine O'neal, the Clippers pick, and two seconds.

Or Jefferson for Jamison, Miami's pick and Sacramento's pick.

Jefferson is not the problem. The problem is the PG and no one being able to shoot on the perimeter or attack the basket. Hayward shows glimpses, but hasn't shown the same fire and stroke he did at the end of last year. Burks has showed it, but Corbin has something on Burks b/c he honestly looks like our best guard right now.

As for defense, doesn't help when all these perimeter guys just absolutely suck on defense- Harris, Bell, Hayward, Miles. Howard and Burks at least get some deflections and put in some effort. Hayward played D last year, but has been awful so far this year.

Jefferson is part of the problem. He doesn't know when to pass out of double teams, can't play defense, doesn't box out on rebounds and is always late on help.

Right now, the Jazz have one guy that knows how to play the game of basketball (Millsap). Having another guy that knows how to play basketball couldn't hurt.

I agree, and although I think Milsap is better coming off the bench and playing with the second unit, I think the Jazz need him with the first unit, as well as Howard, to have some toughness on the court.

I don't know if you've read, but Jefferson worked really hard during the offseason. It's true and matters, because he talked about it a lot.

His passing sure didn't improve. How many turnovers on simple passes did he have tonight? 2? 3?

I'm being a jerk.

I liked the charge he took tonight, and I appreciate the inflated value his numbers bring. He shot above 50% against a guy he traditionally does well against. I'm happy about that.

So, if the Jazz have the third and ninth pick in this coming draft, both of which would be assumed to start because they are lottery picks, who would they replace on the team? Which 'Millsap' would be informed that they will be coming off the bench? Sure, sure, everyone wants Al and Harris gone, but how young can this team become?
