I have some seriously bad Karma

As some of you know I lot my son to cancer 6 years ago. I also lost my wife to a car accident/cancer about 3 years ago.

Well, I have finally found someone that I have fallen in love with again. (this was very difficult) She is a nanny in Amman Jordan and of Filipino descent. We had a great vacation planned for the next week where we would meet to get to know each other and then start working on a fiancee visa.

We have been trying to meet before but every travel visa we applied for was denied. This trip to the Philippines worked out well for both of us.

As you can guess the whole fning thing just got canceled. My hotel is nonrefundable and I am still waiting to see how delta is going to screw me over. I am out a lot of money and now after chatting with this woman for 18 months we still haven't met and still can't get married.

I don't know what I have done to get such crappy karma or what I can do to change my Karma.

Sorry for for strife. You seem like a good and humble guy who has been dealt an an inequitable amount of trouble. Keep the good fight though.

Hello Xthren,
Yes it would appear that you have had more than your share of bad luck but the world still operates by the same principles it always has, you have not been singled out for bad karma or anything of the sort. As much as we would like to think that our actions are rewarded or punished based on our actions or supplication towards a divine being, that is not the way the world operates. Bad things happen to good people every day and good things happen to evil bastards as well, and of course the inverse is true as well. But the point is that there is really no rhyme or reason to it all, I mean beyond the fact that things happen randomly. The secret is in how well you roll with the punches, which you can't really do when you're in the dumps feeling snakebit and victimized either by nefarious or divine forces that are nothing more than a figment of your imagination.

Damn, sorry, man.

Something I've recently learned is whenever you think life can't get any worse, just know that it can.

That said, your story gives my "hard" life a new perspective.

Keep your head up, brotha.

I think he's just saying that as a figure of speech, man.

So true story, my wife's best friend from high school got engaged to a guy from Ireland, sight unseen. She moved over there, they dated for maybe 3 months then tied the knot. Been married about 12 years now. Seem happy. It can work.

Marriage is a crapshoot anyway. Impossible to tell if two people will be able to get along for a long time. I've seen people marry after a very brief time and be very happy, and others who dated for a long time have a very short marriage. So to all who are brave enough to try it, I will you the best of luck and much happiness.
