If hayward averaged 24 points?

Would you all be mad? What would it take to convince you that he turned into a 1st option? Isn't this season to see if our guys have the ability to be an Allstar? What if one of them turns into it this season costing us a top pick?

Let's just see how the season goes. We can't control anything so why get mad. It's a win win opportunity.

Hayward had an absolutely amazing game last night, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Baby steps...if he strings together 3-4 games in a row where he scores 20-25 pts and shoots over 50%, maybe he's turning the corner and on his way towards becoming a #1. But based on 4 years of data, Hayward typically follows up a big game with a huge stinker. Inconsistency is his middle name.

In order for G-time to average 24 ppg this season, he'll have to average 29.7 ppg the rest of the season (assuming he plays all 82 games). If by some huge miracle he could pull this off, then of course he's capable of being a #1 and would deserve a max contract.

Your mother managed to get lucky, why can't Hayward?

Severe racialism in dis thread.

Very true, I wasn't really just basing it off of last nights game. It just seems like a lot of people don't believe that he could ever be a 1st or 2nd option. I'm just curious on what he would have to do to convince people. I guess he'd have to score more, and shoot better.

I would be thrilled with him averaging 24 ppg. If he can do that and still maintain his increased assist and rebounding numbers it means that he has turned into that player that we all want the Jazz to get. I'd prefer to have him average that next to Parker but the chances of Hayward doing that and landing Parker are fairly remote.

last night was the 3rd straight game of him doing just that

are you saying he turned the corner?

In January (3 games - v. Bucks, @ Lakers, v. Thunder) he is averaging 27ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5 apg, 2 spg and 1 bpg in 39 mpg. He is shooting 60% fg, 64% from 3 and 89% from the FT line. He has only 2.3 TOs pg and 1.3 fouls per game.

That is awesome to see..... wish he would turn the corner after we signed him for 10 million per year or less though.

You know the haters cant ever say that...now it must be 10-15 games, then possibly 20-25..then we will see if it happens for a season..not saying I disagree, but they set bars that they then change because it doesn't fit with the hate

I have to agree that 3 game si not enough as his 2 games prior to that were bad games. But it clearly shows that Hayward is capable. I think he will get there. Especially if the other teams primary focus is on another player like Parker.

I cannot tell you all how bad I want to see Parker and Hayward on the wings. That would be absolutely deadly.

Im probably thought of as a hater (criticize corbin a lot... support the tank) but I have always believed that Hayward, burks, kanter, and favors would be very good players and have always supported them.

Last night was the third game in a row shooting above 50% and scoring more than 22 pts. Last night he scored 37 pts going 13-16 -- you can't deny the improvement.

I fully expect him to encounter some more troubles this year, because the rest of our team will have ups and downs-- it's a process.

All i know is that I haven't seen a performrance from a single player in this upcoming draft like I saw from Hayward last night.

I LOLed hard at the bolded part. It's like you don't even pay attention to what's going on. So, is this just blind hate, or do you really not no what's going on

not 100% sure on this but to go along with those numbers, I think Hayward scored the last 17 points in the 4th quarter. Hayward was full on white mamba. Kobe couldn't have closed out a game any better in his heyday. Just watching the 4th it was magic like watching him. It was like he knew he was the man for the first time ever. He looked like a man possessed, hell!! Maybe he was! I've never seen him demand the ball the way he did. If he continues to improve, then he's what I thought he was and more, and would be fine with the third or 4th pick. Adding Embiid would make the jazz very good. Trade Kanter for whatever helps the jazz, and put Burks in the starting lineup. Maybe he and Hayward can build chemistry as a one two punch on offense in putting up those numbers posted above in a combined effort, while Embiid and Favors put up big numbers in a combined effort as well as playing locked down defense in the middle. Who knows, maybe Embiid will do what Greg Oden was supposed to do.

Burke
Burks
Hayward
Favors
Embiid

This looks like a nice young starting unit to build around, and grow together. Use the GS pick and Kanter and cap space to fill out the bench.

I don't think things are as bleak as some think it is.... Spy!! Get off the ledge now!! :)

Love that lineup and also wouldn't mind adding marvin to the bench next year if we get him cheap.... plus evans, gobert, and neto.

I think we are too good to get embiid though...... Would be great if we finish out the season with lots of wins and then hit the jackpot in the lottery and jump a whole bunch of tanking teams to land a top 3 pick!

If Corbin doesn't think there is enough spacing with Favors and Kanter (who has range on his jumper, maybe a an in game 3 pt shot one day), what makes people think Corbin would play Embid and Favors together?

I know a lot of people, myself included, have this delusion that Corbin will be gone at season's end, but NOTHING is certain until it's certain. I still can't say I know 100% who DL is as a GM.

If Corbin coaches this team to the playoffs I would bet money on him being back next year.

Agreed.

I think he's back if we come within 5 games.

I think he's back if some of our players show improvement and the team gets better defensively the last half of the season.

lol, if he coaches this team into the playoffs this year, I want the Jazz to sign him to a 5 year extension. This team would have to go something like 35 and 10 to get into the playoffs at this point.

You guys are right...I wasn't paying close attention to the boxscores, my bad. Yes, i would say he could be turning the corner. Three solid games in a row, including one phenomenal game, I'm hoping this is not a short term thing...
