Is Big Al Unradable?

Making any NBA trade is difficult, but I think the Jazz have some complications with trading Big Al. There is 5 weeks to go to the trade deadline and the Jazz have to deal Sap or Big Al.

Problems with trading Big Al...
* Big Contract
* Can only play one position (center)
* Needs the ball to be effective
* He's not a star, but needs to be the focal point of the team
* Can't play defense to save his life
* Doesn't draw fouls

I think that Big Al's contract will expire and the Jazz will make him another offer. Is Big Al untradable?

He's been traded twice.
Dwight Howard, Steve Nash & Carmelo Anthony all got traded.
So did Torrey Ellis and Joe Johnson.

The only untradable player in NBA history was AK47.

Question is what do the Jazz get in return.

Unraidable? I assume Ghengis Khan would disagree.
Unreadable? I think he's fairly easy to read.

I have always believed he would just be allowed to expire. We could trade him, sure, but we'd most likely have to take back garbage worse than AL.

This is the final year of that contract. That often becomes an asset when trading players.
It is not that he can't play D it is that he won't. World of difference.

I would think that someone would be willing to pick up a guy that can score 20 any given night. He has his problems, but he is still good. I dont think the contract is the issue as much as what we'd get back in return. Last thing I wanna see is the Jazz resign him

Oh, they will make an offer, but if it's over ten mil I'll have a friggin hernia.

What about a S&T scenario where the Jazz get a large trade exception? Did the rules on trade exceptions change with the new CBA?

Tough but not improbable. However your not going to get fair value, because the only way a team will take on Al for a rental, due to him being a FA. at years end is if you take on a bad contract the other team wants to get out of. I'd almost rather have him expire then take on a bad contract.

If Utah is securely in the playoff picture or fighting for a spot still come trade deadline, Millsap and Jefferson will still be with the team. The only way they go into rebuilding mode and trade them for players or picks is if the Jazz are clear out of the hunt. It is the same situation that happened with Boozer.

My only concern with keeping Big Al through this season is the chance that he gets resigned. The combo of Big Al and Corbin is getting to be too much to ask.
