Jared Butler WTF?

OK he's not going to play in Vegas evidently because he hasn't been really working out because of his heart issue. JZ's spin of it in the media was really weak sauce imho. I'm speculating this is why he fell to the Jazz. I'm wondering if the guy will even play preseason.

I can’t get upset about this now. We re-signed Conley at a totally reasonable price, Forrest looks great, we signed Gay and Whiteside, and we traded for Paschall.

If we had moved up (and traded other assets) to around 19 to draft Butler, that would be one thing. We didn’t. We traded back and picked up two seconds and still got him. Obviously there are health issues there. Its why he dropped. We can’t pretend they don’t exist. Whatever Zanik might have said to avoid talking about them and spin what he spun is of no importance to me. I wish the kid well and hopefully he is able to reach his potential.

It sounds like he has not been working out since the college season ended. I just wonder how serious the heart condition and knee really are.

I'm not really concerned. We knew there were concerns about it at the time, this was part of the risk. They don't really need him any time soon, I'd rather not take any chances.

We gonna keep him on the roster anyways. and he's definitely gonna see the floor on Conley's hamstring days.

SL should be more important to the likes of Brantley/Hughes/Doke cuz it's basically gonna determine where they gonna end up for the new season.

Another angle I had not thought of is his contract. Either it could give the Jazz some leverage to low ball or perhaps whisper to his agent that it would be beneficial to go play for Real Madrid next year and see you in 2022. He doesn't have a contract counting against the cap and the last spot could be filled by a minimum wage rookie.

Or it’s the other way — he wants a contract in place before playing. Not super concerned about the health thing but we’ll see. Not concerned at all about him missing summer league because he’ll play enough during the season.

The nba shut him down essentially. No need for him to play… get him some burn in preseason. Ain’t worried about this.

So Butler is Borchardt 2.0?

Not worried. He want allowed to play, then he finally got cleared. Not sure what else you would expect here.

The only thing that sucks is that it appears that he’s lost an important summer in his development, but obviously it was the right move to make sure things were all clear.

I saw Eriksen go down and never want to see that happen again.

I would have liked to have seen him play, but I’m not all that worried at this point either.

Dude read the writing on the wall. He’s from New Orleans and is trying to maneuver himself into teaming up with Zion. You better accept this now.

Jared Butler hasn’t done a thing at all. Great dude.
