Jazz could have one of the best benches next season

This is just an example. But it will show how much depth the Jazz could have next season. So in this scenario the Jazz draft Kanter and Jimmer and resign AK.

Harris/Jimmer
Hayward/Bell
AK/CJ/Evans
Favors/Millsap/Evans
Jefferson/Kanter/Memo

The second unit of Jimmer, Bell, CJ, Millsap and Kanter would be a pretty good second unit. Two great power players in Kanter and Millsap with all three wing players being very above average outside shooters.

I also think Bell and CJ fit well with Jimmer because they add some athleticism and defense on the wing while Jimmer is on the floor.

Like Locke has been talking about the Jazz need to give Millsap and Odom type of role.

The Jazz future looks bright from our starting 5 to the bench!

While I agree that we might have a great bench next season, I do not think it will be by drafting those players.

Also CJ is not an above-average outside shooter. He is actually well below average. Bell also fell off strongly this season and I see no reason why we should expect him to be better next season.

We need to draft a stud with our first pick (D Will2?), and either use the second to trade up to the top 3 to get said stud or use that second pick on another trade to fill in gaps. CJ needs to be let go. AK should only be signed for a decent price (3-4 mill max).

A bench full of rookies does not make a good bench. It will make a horribly inconsistent bench.

Yeah, if we fixed it up.

As presently constituted, a bench of Watson, Bell, CJ/AK, Millsap, Memo (presuming health) would be a a good bench. It's the starting unit of Harris, Hayward, CJ/AK, Favors, Al that would be a little better than mediocre relative to the league.

A great second unit would be Irving, Bell, CJ/AK, Millsap, and Memo. The dream scenario.

Memo is the big variable in this. The smart move is aggressively rehab Memo AND play him. Memo will have a lot of value at the deadline if he isn't dealt in the offseason as a salary equalizer for a higher dollar player.

One thing that is interesting with the Irving fantasy: With the guys we have, we could be a low rent Denver -- two deep at every position, but no superstars:

Harris/Irving
Hayward/Bell
AK/CJ
Favors/Millsap
Al/Memo

Whos the other lottery pick besides Irving?

....and next year they will be starters.....

And we will have 2 new lottery picks as the bench, I get it, but how will it be better than the 2 lottery picks we had on the bench this year?

Personally my hope is Biyombo at 6 and Leonard at 12. If we win the lottery it is all different. Of course I like winning with athletes, defense and fastbreak scoring.

Our 9 man rotation would be

Harris 32/Watson 16
Hayward 32/ Bell 12 / Leonard 4
Miles 24/ Milsap 10 / Leonard 14
Favors 32 / Millsap 16
Jefferson 32 / Biyombo 16

I realize this blows people's minds, but the chances both our lottery picks immediately become rotation players is next to zero. Last year there were only like 10 rookies who averaged over 20 minutes. And this is a weak draft where most of the guys taken will be drafted for upside more than being actually able to play.

Unless Memo is dealt, no big we draft will play. Wings are far more flexible. But it's highly unlikely wings in this draft are ready for full time rotation duty. Whatever KOC does with AK/CJ, he's definitely not thinking he's going to draft a guy at 12 who is going to come in as the bench wing all season.

You are not making any sense. We have to have enough players on a team. Having two lottery picks come off the bench is a huge luxury for any team and they will be much better then the scrubs they replace like Price and Fess.

Memo gets DNP's?

Like, I think your being sarcastic, but im not sure. How can you state as a fact that any two players we pick in the lottery are going to immediately be rotation players AND better than 2 players that have been in the system for some time. Also your not factoring in the fact that "scrubs like Price and Fess" dont play many impactful minutes

If Memo is ever relevant in the NBA again I will be very, very surprised.

Memo's career as a starter is over. But he didn't injure his shooting hand. He can still shoot better than almost every big in the game. The year off will probably help him as long as he's aggressively rehabbing. It's not like he was an athlete before, and he didn't wreck his knee. He can be a big piece to next year, if only to get dealt to a contender at the deadline.

But a bench with two lottery picks would make a good bench.

Um, that is what we had this year after the Deron trade.

You say that a bench of 2 lottery picks would make a good bench. But we had that this year and had an atrocious bench. So you say that yes but next year those 2 we had this year will be starters, as if that makes next year's bench better than this year's.

I am still confused how changing out the 2 lottery picks we have on the bench now with 2 new ones will somehow make the bench better than it was this year.
