Jazz should try and trade for Stanley Johnson

Stanley Johnson look like he could be a pretty good player, and the Pistons dont like playing him. Unless they are forced to.

Get him now while he may be cheap.

Send them Exum

Exum wont get the Job done they're about to sink a ton of $$ into their starting backcourt.

D'Angelo Russell reportedly 'can be had for the right price' too. I'm sure the asking price is astronomical.

Stanley Johnson and Marcus Morris for Favors is kinda intriguing. I'd pass on that deal though, probably.

Russell would be interesting. Exum + something?

He'd be awesome on this team. I don't think Utah has the assets to get it done tho, there's no way they value him below the 1st rd pick they're surrendering to the 76ers.. The asking price has gotta be in the ballpark of a top pick in this draft plus a vet..

Utah still has tons of assets, all the Jazz 1sts, GSW 1st, OKC pick, tons of 2nd rounders into 2022, Favors, Exum, Burks, Diaw, Neto, Mack, JJ...

Now I am not saying do a trade or any trade but Utah is loaded with "assets". The players I listed are all on very tradable contracts.

Ya Exum sucks. Good point. What would get it done in your opinion?

Well I mean if they centered the deal around Hood they have the assets, probably. There's no reason to believe the Lakers are asking any less than a kings ransom tho.

The picks the Jazz have aren't even close to top picks and no one's gonna pay for them like they are.

@PGAB: Who do you like better as a young player, Stanley Johnson or OG Anunoby?

Thats a damn good question, I'ma getback to you in like 2hours. Ill think on it during my haircut.

Both very powerfully built what I like to call 'Warlord wings'.

They took very different routes to being considered lottery picks as Fr. though (I did think OG was lottery worthy last year and posted Icouldn't complain if the Jazz took him 12th) - Stanley being much more the early bloomer makes it interesting though.

I'm not a big fan of Stanley. If he's on the block in his second year, there's a reason.

Unless there's an attitude problem or something else we don't know about then I don't believe he's really on the block. Is he even 21 yet?

He's mired in the middle of a pretty bad sophomore slump, he had a cringe worthy -32 last night at GSW - but he showed decent promise his first year.

So no assets basically means no lottery picks.

Give up Dante Exum for a player who has less potential and is currently worse than Exum?

Great plan.

Well sorta, he's got 2½ seasons left on his rookie deal.. ideally you want a top-3 pick in 2017 or one that looks like it'll be at/near the top in 2018, that's trading apples for apples.. aka you want a pick that's got a good shot at going #1 in the lottery.., So obviously the Jazz don't have anything close to that without paying a 3rd party some huge premium to cough up their pick...

I did just the other day suggust the Jazz look into doing something like trading the 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025 1st rd picks as part of a package to move up for Markelle Fultz ----- Thats sorta where I think the value of our picks are at though, they need to be part of a big package deal to cut the mustard. Stanley Johnson is not even close to good enough to pay that sort of premium for though.

Catchall I'm gonna go with Anunoby mostly on the strength of his lateral quickness and size advantage, he's a better athlete IMO, he's got more upside in a best case scenario typa deal.

I agree. OG's got a prototypical body for an NBA wing, and he's a bit quicker and more explosive around the rim, I think, due to being lighter. I just wonder how much he wants to be a dominant player, because I think he could be.

Agree. So over this Exum bashing. How about... Oh I don't know, letting Exum fully recover first before writing him off. Anyone giving up on him obviously has no idea about ACL injuries. The dude is literally breaking out in acne he's still that young.

That would be a solid argument if we talking about someone who is good. Exum is not good.
