Jeff Withey Needs To Stay

...and he can play basketball. I have hopes for Tibor, but Withey can play today.

Can you imagine opponents thinking about playing against the Jazz with a front line of Gobert, Pleiss, Withey, Favors, Booker and Lyles. Thats a whole lot of length and shot blocking ability, and 36 fouls per game. If the Jazz want to slow it down and make it ugly, they can.

That too... I guess if you care about things like that.:D

I was actually shocked he couldn't find a better situation than what he may have here. Thought someone like Dallas, New York, or Indiana might be after him.

I too like Tibor... he needs to shave and stop offensive goaltending... I also need him to not set his feet so wide on the pick (he's going to get a million offensive fouls on screens if he doesn't adjust). But Yeah... we will always have a good paint presence in the game which is big.

He will:

Gobert/Withey/Pleiss
Favors/Booker/Lyles
Hayward/Ingles/Johnson
Burks/Hood/Millsap
Burke/Neto/Exum

15 people. Only possible change comes at Johnsons expense if the Jazz want a 3rd playable PG and make it Cotton. (I doubt it)

Tibor is a good developmental project/emergency big. But Withey is definitely out third best big right now. Maybe he doesn't dress every night, but I can't see him being left off the 15-man roster.

Pretty spot on. Johnson vs. Cotton do seem to be jockeying for that 15th spot. Neither decision would surprise me.

I thought Johnson was a shoe in. Cotton too. But Withey has surely made it interesting.

Injuries could easily play a role in this race as well...

I've been really surprised/impressed by his play. He's far from a stiff, and came up with some big plays on both ends of the court in both games. Need to see more.

A few comments have been made, too, that he's pretty much automatic from the elbow on the pick-and-pop. I haven't seen any plays run for him yet, though.

He's going to get postered often, but I like what he's done so far. He's a keeper for now.

Why do you say that? He holds the big 12 record for blocked shots, he has been known for defense, it is something he takes pride in. He's got quite a few blocks in two preseason games and the first two years of his career. He might get dunked on now and then because he is there trying to make a play and defend, but "posterized often"... Maybe if he was a starting center playing major minutes - but he isn't.

Still a long way to go, but I see no reason he doesnt stay. His play was terrific in Hawaii. Still want to see him in against other competition, but Ive always liked his game.
Perfect bench guy. Will push Pleiss, and the best man will play more.

This. The guys rep around the league is as a poster. But that's fine, he goes for it and does block some shots. Just saying the guy gets dunked on, a lot.

Kanter was his daddy the last few years if you remember.....

Agree with this roster... with Burks/Hood combo, Cotton is more expendable and Johnson more important...
Sorry for Bryce, but think he'll find a spot and be successful.

Whoever makes the team out of Cotton/Johnson is going to get cut December 15th anyway. The Jazz will never let their 15th man be a guaranteed contract, that I can guarantee.

I dont know if I would say he has a reputation as a poster, I think he just has a reputation that he was a poster for that one Lakers' player that one time.

I tend to agree.
