Acquisitions: The Jazz traded Devin Harris to the Atlanta Hawks on July 11th. They resigned Jeremy Evans for three years, $5 million. Signed Randy Foye on a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Invited Trey Gilder, Darnell Jackson, Chris Quinn and Brian Butch to camp. Picked up options on Derrick Favors (fourth year), Enes Kanter (third year), Gordon Hayward (fourth year) and Alec Burks (third year). Signed Kevin Murphy to a two-year, non-guaranteed minimum contract. Signed Travis Leslie to a 10-day contract. Signed Jerel McNeal to a 10-day contract and then to a three-year deal (second and third years partial/non-guaranteed).

Wow, guess it was a bit more than a tryout. I can't say what I think because I haven't seen him play....at all....
 
Everything I'm reading is that he's kind of a shoot first combo guard, so I say he has no future other than a practice dummy for the team.

If this is true it explains why Lindsey named him specifically on locker clean out when discussing next year's team.
 
Very little risk if the 2nd and 3rd years are only partially or non-guaranteed. Aren't the Jazz, barring any major FA signings, going to be under the MINIMUM team salary next year? At worse, McNeal is our "Ronnie Price." Can he be our emergency 3rd PG? He certainly can't shoot any worse than Watson did.

She should offer him a 16M Four year contract where the first two years being 5.5M a year and the last two years at 2.5M a year!!!

We've got the doe to spend and it will save us money when we need it, but still letting Carrol know we value him!!

So the fact that we signed a D-Leaguer to a 3-year contract, with the 2nd/3rd year not being guaranteed is a pretty good indicator of the team's philosophy for this upcoming year: Sign cheap players to 1 year contracts, trade for Marion and draft pick, tank, and play the young guys no matter what.

Right?

This was my thought as well when I saw the news. Interesting. Maybe this is why the jazz brought in Lindsey then promoted. KOC.
 
If true, not a bad move.
He replaces Watson or Tinsley.
Younger. Has some NBA experience.
Jazz third PG. Fills a need for cheap.
