Wow! The cancer must have been advanced. He was admitted just last week to the hospital. Reading the article, I guess he's had serious health problems for the last few years. Truly a great in terms of NBA owners. You can love or hate the Lakers (and I hate them), but you have to admit Dr. Buss was very passionate about his basketball team. He spared no expense to make them contenders almost every season.
Interesting bit of trivia: I didn't know he was born in Salt Lake City.
The dynamics of the team will be interesting going forward as his son is in charge of basketball operations, but Jeannie (who is married to Phil Jackson) is in charge of business operations. I can see a real fight going on between the two, similar to the family problems which ripped apart the SF 49'ers for many years.
