Is it supposed to be enjoyable to watch? Looks like they’re trying to out do Ledger’s creepy Joker. Phoenix alone is one weirdo. Now he’s pretending to be a psychotic killer clown? Meh pass.

Why haven’t movie producers figured out that the movies they make about DC-based characters have all sucked (with the exception of WW) because the movies aren’t at all enjoyable to watch? Movies based on Marvel characters win every time because they know how to make movies enjoyable to watch.

If I wanted to just watch some dark creepy show, I’d watch a documentary on the Zodiac or wait until the Charles Manson movie.

All but one of his movies was entirely mediocre, and nothing about his actual directing has stood out and said that he should be trusted with anything like this, something that probably should have a unique visual style. That being said, there is precedent for someone who has done nothing but mediocre comedies (OK, I actually liked Bring It On) moving up to doing superhero movies - Peyton Reed, who made the Ant Man movies. But they benefited from being comedy/superhero (like Winter Soldier was spy/superhero) as well as having the strong guidance of Kevin Feige. It doesn't appear that DC Films has good guidance.
