Kanter 30 Pts and 16 Rebs... And Now the Rest of the Story...

Enes Kanter had a career-high 30 points, with 16 rebounds... but the Thunder gave up 72 points in the paint last night against the Dallas Mavericks.

  • Thunder coach Scott Brooks suggested it was effort-based.
  • Whatever the reasons are, one clear answer seems to lie in the current personnel.
  • They are missing Ibaka, Durant, Collison, Roberson...

They don't mention Kanter's stellar defense. Since the trade Utah is 15-7 and OKC is 13-8

So glad we decided to sit out this guys free agency... Good luck deciding if you should pay this guy OKC.

From the article:

""There are a lot of good defensive players that are not on the floor right now," Brooks said. "But there's no excuse. You still have to do it. We have to have everybody committed to that end of the floor and you have to do it every time down. And if you don't, you get scored on."

That's Enes, gets his stats and an L.

It is not like Enes is putting up these stats on a losing team like Nikola Vucevic or Al Jefferson. Since Serge Ibaka is down OKC is 7-4. Ibaka is literally the perfect compliment for Kanter because he is a rim protector and has long range which opens up inside for Kanter. Everytime OKC loses if Kanter had bad stats people will say "see Kanter did bad." If OKC loses and Kanter puts up good stats people will quote the legendary Trevor Booker. Can't expect OKC to win every game especially with injuries.

I am going to watch every Warriors/OKC game and watchCurry, Thompson and Iggy obliterate Kanter in the paint.

Genuinely excited to watch them expose him for a national audience and just destroy his ego.

Who haven't they exposed?

I will bet money on the Warriors attacking Kanter specifically till OKC can't even risk putting him on the floor. And this won't be just 1 game, it will be 4 games that everyone watches.

All the cameras and lights will be on and everyone will see. Not just OKC fans. One regulas season game is not the same as 4 prime time playoff games.

Give it up, dude. Kanter just put up career stats on O, his team lost, his team got killed in the on D in the paint, and his coach called out his team for not being committed on D. Pretty obvious, unless you want to be obtuse.

Two things:

1 - I've been hearing this excuse for three 1/2 years now. When Utah was 1-15 or whatever last year with Kanter starting, it was always everyone else's fault. Well, so and so wasn't playing, or so and so isn't good enough to compliment Kanter. The dude wants max dollars. He wants to be THE MAN. Part of being the man, is taking responsibility when your team struggles. Kanter does the opposite. And so do Kanter supporters.

2 - Kanter is in a contract year. This is him giving more effort than he will ever give. That is frightening. He has admitted to quitting in Utah. He/his agent think he is a top 5 player in the NBA. HIS DEFENSE IS TERRIBLE. You will never get a better defensive effort than what you are getting RIGHT NOW.

No thanks. Whoever maxes Kanter out, will be very, very sorry. I've been saying this for two years now. Jefferson is a poor man's Boozer. Kanter is a very, very, very poor man's Jefferson. Whoever maxes out Kanter will be relegating themselves to the lottery if they are in the West.

1) Simply hasn't happened. I haven't seen people praising Kanter and blaming rest of team 3.5 years.

2) His rebounding has been consistent and his scoring increased pretty consistently every year. His defense has stayed equally bad every year. Kanter is putting up stats and winning more than losing on OKC despite injuries on team to key players.

I never said Kanter didn't do anything but bad on D. If RW turned the ball over 1 less time or made 1 more FG OKC would have probably won. Loses happen. Once again if Kanter puts good stats and OKC loses people quote TB. If OKC loses and Kanter puts up dud stats Kanter just loses. It is an accomplishment that OKC still winning most games despite 2 of top 3 players on team injuried. Kanter is a part of that winning record.

Hit the wrong item there, did NOT like the post. You continue to be obtuse. The Head Effing Coach of the team did not call out his team for losing because of turnovers. He called them out for not being committed on D. Then you see the points in the paint and it is pretty obvious who to blame: Fool's Gold.

It is true if Kanter played better D they probably win this game and more games. However, Kanter is so good on offense and rebounding that OKC is still winning most of their games despite injuries with the help of Kanters production which people don't seem to want to give him credit for.

If Kanter played average D he would already a good-great center in NBA. If Kanter keeps his O and played Omer Asik level D he would be an All-Star. This is likely to never happen. Not ever 22 year old Center in the NBA is a center version of Anthony Davis who are elite on both ends.

watched both games last night, (Ball Streams), and one of Dallas' big runs happened while Enes was out of the game actually. Missing Ibaka, Durant, Roberson and Adams for a and starting Waiters, etc. for a big stretch of Enes' tenure are all huge impacts defensively. I actually think OKC has the right players to have an elite defensive team even with Enes. Enes had some key stops in the game last night, and per usual, some ridiculous defense.

There was one play where he and Mcgary chased down Stoudamire at the rim, but since Mcgary was there, Enes turned around instead of helping to contest, and of course Stoudamire scored. It was a classic "wtf!? Well, that's Enes for you" kind of plays.

And Utah doesn't? The squad that suddenly has become the best D in the league by a large margin with the trade of Kanter?

Give me a break. Guy scores and rebounds but he is about himself and not the team. Huge liability on D and always has been. He will hold any team he is on back.

OKC defense best defensive players are Ibaka and Roberson who you can have on the court with at the same time with Kanter. UTA best defensive player is Rudy Gobert who you cannot have on the court with Kanter.
