According to the Turkish NT doctor, Professor Dr. Tahsin Beyzadeoğlu, Kanter's injury is not serious as it has been told to Turkish NT coach Ergin Ataman by the Kanter's side. Mr. Beyzadeoğlu has talked to the surgeon who did the operation and learned that it was only a cleansing and injection like it was initially declared. Kanter is now in Chicago and practicing and can do straight runs.

PS: I will translate the quote as soon as possible. But basically, Kanter's family and agent are the ones who misinformed the NT coach. They claimed that Kanter had meniscus repair which takes about 3 months to heal.

A Milli Erkek Basketbol Takımı’nın Bormio Kampı’ndaki çalışmaları devam ederken, takım doktoru Prof. Dr. Tahsin Beyzadeoğlu, kamuoyuna ve basına yansıyan farklı haberler üzerine, Enes Kanter’in sağlık durumu ile ilgili açıklamalar yaptı.

Enes Kanter’in şu anda düz koşulara devam ettiğini söyleyen Beyzadeoğlu, genç oyuncunun yaklaşık olarak Ağustos’un ilk haftasında takıma katılabileceğini düşündüğünü ifade etti:

“Edindiğimiz bilgilere göre şu anda Enes Chicago’da düz koşularını yapıyor ve fizyoterapistiyle birlikte çalışıyor. Bu konuda başantrenör Ergin Ataman’ı da bilgilendirdim. Kendisi de Enes’in durumundaki gelişmeden memnuniyetini ifade etti. Ameliyattan sonra geride kalan süreci de değerlendirirsek, Enes’in yaklaşık olarak Ağustos ayının ilk haftasında, halen bir üyesi olduğu A Milli Erkek Takım aday kadrosuna dönebileceğini düşünüyorum.”

Roughly translated...
While the Turkish National Basketball Team continue working in the Bormio Camp, the team doctor Professor Dr. Tahsin Beyzadeoğlu has made a statement regarding the health status of Enes Kanter, after the different news leaked to the press and to the public.

"We had the knowledge previously that Enes Kanter had an operation. However, we didn't have clear information regarding the nature of the surgery. We had only learned from his family and agent, that he had his meniscus repaired. But, there wasn't a report we received about the surgery.

After I learned the name of the doctor who did the operation, I personally talked with the doctor, on the evening of July 25. I have learned that one month ago, he operated on the meniscus tear that resulted from chronic problems on the knee of Enes. I received the information that there wasn't any repairing in the procedure, that it was only a slight trimming of the outer meniscus; and other than this, an injection was made for his another problem that was "quadriceps tendonitis"
."

Mr. Beyzadeoğlu informed that Enes Kanter continues to regular running in practice and said that he would be joining to the team around the first week of August.

"According to our information, Enes is doing basic running in Chicago right now and working with his physiotherapist. I have informed head coach Ergin Ataman on the subject. He also expressed his contentment with the developments about the situation of Enes. If we consider the post surgery process, I would think that around the first week of the August, Enes could return to the Preliminary Roster of the Turkish National Men's Team which he currently is a part of."

UPDATE: A disclaimer from Enes:

A hasty translation..

July 27, 2014

Disclaimer about the statements on my health status:

I am upset for the news on the media about myself and my agent upon the evaluations of Prof. Dr. Tahsin Beyzadeoğlu regarding my latest health status on July 26, and I must express that the news don’t reflect the truth.

In the morning of July 25, upon the demand of my medical report, we did request from my doctor Micheal Terry to submit the reports to Mr. Beyzadeoğlu on the same day at noon. The details of the meeting between himself and Mr. Terry was not surprise to any of us. I believe it shouldn’t be argued much about whether the meniscus got stitches or it was just a little cleaning or the stitches were regular operation stitches etc which are all technical medical issues. At this stage, I must express that the recovery phase where I’m as a professional athlete and the effort I’m putting in are more significant than my health status being determined over some phone calls. Just two weeks ago, my sutures were removed and I started physiotherapy. Everyday, with my best efforts, I continue to do both weightlifting workouts for my upper body, and jogging/cycling workouts for my knees. I’m taking this period seriously, in the professional guidance and orientation of both my Utah Jazz team trainers, my doctors and my agent. I’m having a healthy process in the lead and guidance of the Utah Jazz managers that I’m responsible and liable to.

Finally, to basketball fans, whom I respect all whether they support me or not, I would like to say: I too desire to return to the national team as at least as much as you want me to do, but this process is very hard for me so I request from you not to accredit and trust this kind of sensational news on the media. I’m too a son of this country like you all are and I have the desire too to serve my nation as you do. So please, I request from you more moderate approaches by revising all the comments, opinions and our statements.

With respect and reverence,

Enes Kanter

Isn't there bad blood between Enes and the Turkish team? Him celebrating when they loses?

Yeah but, I mean, no one said it would equal. The team doctor says that he might be in the roster the early August.

Though, it's a fat chance in my opinion too. And boy, this turned out to be such a weird drama now, I'm literally lost in it and finally giving up. I'm not gonna pretend anymore like I know a thing about it. Kanter is talking and writing very positive about playing in the NT and he sounds very sincere to me every time. The new staff at the NT are also very positive. Yet, Kanter's agent and family seem the opposite way. And I don't know why Kanter is very healthy one day, crippled the other day, and very healthy again the next day.

One step ar a time kardesim.

He probably will be on the roster in the next competition. It's the AKP tactic. Be patient or you will face a hard reaction. Wait for the opposers to cool down and have your way with whatever you want.

Yeah I'd put that at NO CHANCE.

Think about it this way, what does Enes has to gain by playing in the NT? He'll be playing 82 games for us in a pretty thin front court next year coming out of a minor injury. The last thing he needs is adding extra 'meaningless' games to that total.

I can't follow you abi. Do you mean that Enes using the AKP tactic?

Yeah I'd put that at NO CHANCE.

I understand your point of view. You look at it the American way. However the NT issues are different here. But still, like I said, it's a fat chance and most probably you'll be right at the end.

He is. Taking it slow. Although, he could fool some people but grown ups have not forgotten his tweet and are furious still. Maybe that's why he suddenly had to have surgery.

Max ergul, I hate this guy...

Add another name to the party. If Murat Murathanoğlu was his agent instead of Max, he would have a much more different start to his career. And I'm a person that is not a Fener fan that can easily see this.

Sometimes you have to think pragmatic and leave your stupid pride behind.

Yes your comment is very logical. However, when it comes to the national team, it is all about country pride and emotions. After all Parker and Nowitzki had been very committed to both their NBA and national teams.

Plus, if you have some 70 million people from you own country hating you, there is a chance that this might create a bad karma for you. :)

The Turkish NT coach Ataman is a very professional guy. I don't know why he said such stuff. He sounded very precise with the medical terms and the length of rehabilitation period.

Looks like it might be Max Ergul, Kanter's long-time agent, is making decisions for him again, causing headaches. If I was Enes, I would get rid of this agent immediately and sign a reputable one like Dan Fegan, Pelinka or Tellem, Asik's agent. Or whoever.

What makes you think they'd want him to play? Kanter's rookie contract is up after this coming season, and he's eligible for a contract extension now. If he plays poorly for the NT or gets injured, what might the Jazz agree to in an extension? If the extra NT games and practices negatively affect his games with the Jazz due to fatigue, how will it affect Enes's next contract? I'd guess the risk of playing for the NT are greater than the potential rewards.

I really hope he plays.. Judging by what I've heard about his temperament, it would obviously be great for him to work up some momentum going into the season.

If he plays, the Jazz will be represented on 5 of the 24 teams??

Enes - Turkey
Rudy - France
Dante - Australia
Tomic - Croatia
Neto - Brazil

Seeing as Kanter still doesn't have a stellar BBIQ, it'd be good experience having him play in another system. I doubt he's gonna flame out and play poorly, if he chose to play.

It's also a good opportunity to get in game shape prior to the start of the season.

Well, Turkish people won't look at these things from risk/reward perspective. If you're ready to play, you play for your country.
Besides, as @dalamon pointed out, this may help him get in game shape. I'll add the extra benefit of likely confidence boost. He looked damn good last time playing for the NT, he was 18 or something, now he may rock the world's scene playing the PF alongside Omer Asik, improve his confidence much damaged during Corbin's tenure.

The problem is Kanter's agent is messing things up, and this happened several times before. He took the kid to the US to waste his two years before all.
And now this mess of medical reports... Top Turkish newspapers today are bashing Kanter again, write he is working out in the US, not joining the NT, telling lies. This one has the headline: "Another Enes Kanter issue!"

Seems to be a repeating theme.

Why does Kanter injure himself all the time? Why does he not work out like a real man? This article, it make it sound like his knees are shot.

Because his name is Kantdurrrr and he falls!

I would love to see you play "like a real man" against him. You would probably die.
