Kings To Stay in Sacramento?

I'm not entirely sure why, but this news kind of pisses me off. Their "great" fans sold out the arena in 2006-07, but their percentage of capacity attendance since has gone like this:

2007-08: 81.7% , 18th (out of 25 teams ESPN had percentage numbers on for that season)
2008-09: 72.6%, 29th
2009-10: 76.5%, 27th
2010-11: 80.2%, 26th
2011-12: 83.8%, 22nd
2012-13: 79.4%, 28th

So the story leaks out today that the Sacramento buyers promised to return thier annual revenue sharing profits. The Kings stood to get in excess of 20 Million in revenue sharing this season. That money will be returned to the pot and distributed to revenue sharing recipients.
As one of the lowest-grossing teams in the NBA, the Kings stood to be one of the biggest receivers in a new, more expansive revenue-sharing system. They could have received in excess of $20 million per season from richer teams.

I'm not sure how the new revenue sharing works. Is it on ly based on gross income? Or is it also tied into the luxary tax paying system? How much are the Jazz getting?

I would love to see Jazz numbers. Please!

Worst franchise in pro sports. Maybe the jets are worse? If I were gm I'd fire the coach and trade away 3/4 of that roster away for draft picks and cooler ranch chips. Cousins is easily thee worst basketball player I have ever seen. Yes, worse than kwame brown, Michael Beasley, kmart, and JR smith. Horrible horrible horrible.

Yeah, I feel weird about this because I just feel Seattle deserves a team and Sacramento really doesn't. It's amazing to me that because of the fallout of Sonics-gate, Stern is now being super cautious about teams moving, even if it's a team back to Seattle with deep pockets. Maybe he just hates Seattle or something.

Anyway, this actually kind of bums me out.

You are addicted to absurd hyperbole.

So, basically, the Maloofs and Balmer want Sacramento to be without a team even if it comes at a financial loss to them. What the ****? Did a Kings mascot rape their mothers? It's not even about the money anymore, it's about robbing Sacramento of a team at any cost.

Did anyone tell this Balmer guy that you can just buy an expansion franchise if you have that much money to burn?

I hate the Maloofs, but Sacramento basically told them to go *&^%$ themselves when it came to getting a new arena. Maloofs kept threatening that the team would leave without a new deal...and they finally delivered on that threat when they found a Seattle buyer. Now, KJ FINALLY got serious and put together a group to keep the team in SAcramento. Maloofs have every right to tell him to go pound sand. Where was the city of Sacramento four years ago, three years ago or even last year?

The biggest issue to me still is that the Hansen-Ballmer group wants to pay more money for the Kings than the Sacramento group. So of course the Maloofs want to make that deal happen. The Maloofs also negotiated a good-faith deal with that group. To me, the NBA can't worry about not letting another Sonics moving to OKC happening. It's hypocritical that the NBA allowed the lying PoS Clay Bennett and his cronies to buy the Sonics and not let the Hansen-Ballmer group buy the Kings.

Making a mistake and then learning from it is now hypocritical?

Having Clay Bennett on the relocation committee is hypocritical. The Hansen-Ballmer group is being upfront and not spitting out lies about their intentions to move the Kings. If the NBA really thinks it was such a mistake to let the Sonics move, it's hypocritical that Seattle has been hung out to dry with the NBA making no efforts to actually fix their mistake.

Ballmer and Hansen can simply apply for a new franchise, right? Why is it so important to them to get an existing franchise?

Because you really should add two teams at a time and the league should be contracting, not expanding. And there are a number of teams that are floundering where they are despite having good teams (Atlanta, Indy, New Orleans), deservedly can't get traction (Charlotte Bobcats), and/or are in a bad geographic location and have basically no tradition of success (Minnesota and Sacramento).

I have no problem with Seattle getting any of those teams except the Hawks and Pacers and you could make a case for them. Hell, put the Clippers on the list if Chris Paul doesn't re-sign and Sterling has become sick of owning a team.
