Losing last night

I live on Long Island, in NY and have been a Jazz
fan for going on 37 years now--since the franchise began
in the New Orleans days. I cannot recall when I have been
so upset, frustrated and galled by a performance such as last
night's. Where do I begin? First our point guard-a former All Star
in this league!- gets totally outplayed by a guy who has been cut
TWICE! in less than 2 months and was 3rd, maybe 4th string, a
week ago. Then their 2 best players are out, their center gets in
early foul trouble and our 2 best guys-INSIDE POST THREATS no
less- are guarded by Jerome Jordan(who??!!), Jared Jeffries(seriously!!)
and Bill Walker(come on!!) down low, and what do we do? Hoist jumpers and threes
instead of feeding either or both guys EVERY SINGLE TIME down the floor.
Are you kidding me? Big Al and Paul should have each had 20-20 games last
night instead they are defeated on the glass, the team is outhustled by guys
that would not get any significant time almost on any other team in the NBA
and we rally just to give away a game in the 4th qtr to a D League squad of 5
(as stated by the Knicks own announcers on TV) when it would have been
a good win to start a road trip. On top of that in the second half you can see Coach
Corbin spending most of the time sitting and every time Harris brings it up he is looking over to
the bench and it looks like he wants to know what to run but it seemed like he got nothing back.
I truly, truly do not get it!! Is Corbin in over his head? Does this team lack something? Leadership at
the point perhaps? After all these years we have a good shot at the playoffs(again) but waste an
opportunity against a shorthanded, way less talented team to get a win. Shameful!! Inexcusable!
The Jazz fought to get back in it during a monster 3rd quarter only to come up with 15 points in the 4th. Ridiculous.
I hope this gets back to someone in management because I have been around the game a long time
and know what I am talking about, not just spewing stuff here, and anyone who saw the game last night
(and I was going to go but now am glad I did not pay to see that) will definitely agree. This team needs to build on good wins like Sat vs the Lakers not regress and go win one lose one.

Glad to see passion over apathy. You are correct, we played uninspired for yet another game. I don't mind losing games (as much) when we leave it all on the court ... but last night we barely even left SLC.

I'm not a Jefferson hater, but I hate his lack of effort on the boards.

Stink. Stank. Stunk. They went from one of the best games of the year to probably the worst. Without Amare and Melo? Shoulda been a W.

These games happen especially to the jazz. They seem to let down against bad team and get beat. I remember games where the clippers would come to town, when they were bad, and beat the jazz. It happens move on. One of My biggest regrets is that the gsw pick gets pushed closer to 7.

the GSW pick is #8 right now.

Also the Lakers, Nuggests, Blazers and Rockets lost last night as well. Utah is still the #5 seed.

Aside from that last night was horrible.

Saw the beginning of the game, and didn't like the body language I was seeing; knew this was gonna be ugly (at best). Very disappointing loss!

I'm also an East Coast Jazz fan and I haven't been to a Knicks - Jazz game at MSG since they lost that OT game a few years ago when Marbury layed one in at the buzzer.

I refuse to go. It's not worth my time. The Jazz flat out don't show up when they play in NYC.

There were positives:

I picked up Lin 2 nights ago in the fantasy league.

Gordon had another pretty nice all around game including over .500 shooting.

Bell made 3s.

Not much to go on but if you asked me if I'd give up this game to beat LA I would have taken it laughing.

"Is Corbin in over his head?" Let me just say this....if Corbin was a head coach in the NFL....his team would lead the league in "12 men on the field" penalties!!!

I get your point but the Clippers is a bad example. They are like 2-42 in SLC. I agree with your point. I wasn't too surprised. It seems like the Jazz struggle in NYC and add on the fact that they traveled to the East Coast so I not so shocked of the results. The Jazz need to play with energy and within their system or they will struggle, this has always been the case.

I agree there is no good reason why the team can't always show energy considering they don't have real jobs. They can rest all day and all they have to do is play hard for a couple hours. I think most teams just lay eggs every now and then especially on the road. As fans it is frustrating and disheartening, but it is the reality of the NBA.

A big part of the Jazz struggles start at the PG. The Jazz need to push the ball constantly and then settle into their offense if there is no break. Harris seems like he doesn't want to push it and he sucks in the half court.

You mean that one time last week and then that one time in 2003 and then never?

Yep and incidentally this year (as you may have heard already) CP and/or Billups asked their announcers if it had really been that long since winning in SLC, somebody needed to do something similar to the Jazz in NYC. As bad as NYK have been these past 8-10yrs the Jazz almost always play poorly and almost always lose.
Maybe next year they shouldn't be allowed to do jack squat in NYC and when the players ask why or get pissed just show them the Jazz record in NYC and make them watch last nights game as punishment for questioning why.
