Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban apologized to the family of slain South Florida teenager Trayvon Martin for referencing "a black kid in a hoodie" during a controversial, nuanced discussion about prejudices and bigotries.

Cuban made the apology Thursday afternoon and elaborated on his thoughts expressed during an interview Wednesday with Inc. magazine in a series of tweets.

....can't disagree with you there, Dutch! I'll go one further! If I saw that squad of Heat players walking down the street at night with those 'hoodies" on.....I'd call 911 and scream into the phone:"I NEED HELP! SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL ME!!!" Gangsta rap trash shoot each other and others all the time.....true or false? If they have a hoodie on and are walking the streets late at night.....I've got to figure I've got a better chance leaving the scene than walking by them and saying: "Good evening, fellas!"
 
You simply cannot be a public figure and have your own thoughts these days. It's incredibly creepy. And it's sad he actually issued an apology. He should've issued a "**** off!"

I'd much rather take my chances with them than anyone walking the streets late at night in a WHITE HOODIE...

I think what may come out of this is the realization for NBA players that there is a realistic chance that the old, rich, white, billionaire owner who signs their checks is, to a degree, racist.

How would you propose to do that? (Leaving aside the rest of your asinine statements.) How would you "ban political correctness?" What legislative steps would you take? Make it a requirement for everyone to say n****r whenever they see a black person, or f****t when confronted with a homosexual?
