Mavs acquire D.Collison for peanuts

They gave up a somewhat reasonable back-up big in Mahimi. But now I guess we can do a thread comparing Collison and Mo Williams.

Looks like Dallas is probably not going to make the playoffs.

He would have made a great backup for us.

Either we never offered Jefferdad or his cost scared them away....

Didn't they reach on that Miles Plumblee draft pick to be the backup to Hibbert? This seems like a stupid trade for the Pacers.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

In the final analysis, they should be in something like a WIN NOW mode... I don't see that quality in this trade. Not at all. I'm not sure how their salary structure is going to breakdown, but they needed to get a big and they haven't done it.

it's heartbreaking because it sinks another team on my Jefferdad List.

Dallas will look a lot different. They've added Kaman and Collison and will likely go after Brand on the amnesty waiver wire. Then Jet, Kidd and Haywood will be elsewhere. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas fighting for one of the last playoff spots.

I don't know anything about Plumlee, but odds are that he won't help them win anything next year.

****, man, I'm confident the Jazz would be better if Jefferson and Collison would have changed places. I think Indy would be better too.

I would have liked Collison because I still remember what he did in New Orleans when Chris Paul went down. He really thrived in a PG centric offense, both scoring and passing. I always thought he could have been a good player in Utah.

Mahinmi is pretty good. Hustle player that gets his boards, could end up being their Nick Collison. I wouldn't define that player as peanuts. Backup point for a backup big, both rather young, both rather redundant. Looks like a win/win to me. These are smart moves from Cuban. 1 year deal for a guy like Kaman is nice, nice. Brand will fit in there very well. Pretty savvy recovery from the botched reach on Deron.

I won't compliment Cuban often but Collison/Kaman/Brand and not blowing too much $/commitment is worth a brief clap. Speculating on Brand of course.

No way! I learned on JF just last week that giving up our best player, who averaged 19 & 9 last season, for this same average at best PG would be a "steal" from the Jazz's perspective.

I'd still be angry at Cuban if I were Dirk...

He blew up his team with Chandler, Barea, and Deshawn to chase after Deron...

That failed....

And now he plays with the likes of Vince Carter and Kaman.

Ugh.

If we lose even once to those guys next year I'm going to lose my frickin mind...
