Game Thread May 26, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Grizzlies - Game 2

Added to Calendar: 05-26-21

Now that we know Donovan is playing, we bring him off the bench right?? Even if they somewhat limit his minutes for a couple games, this could potentially cause all kinds of problems for the Grizzlies and they will have trouble even keeping the score close. Assuming we don't lay another egg , I'm expecting a 15-20+ lead all game and a W!

Call me a looney if you like since I am reaching MeloTheJazzKiller level homerism with this post. But I am more confident in the Jazz winning 4 straight games today than I was Sunday before tip. We played what? 16, 17 minutes of good basketball while Memphis played at or near their ceiling and we lost by 3.

I think they should start Donovan and get our bench unit back to being our bench unit.

I'm with you on the end of your post.
I think we win the next 4.

A few guarantees I can make:
1. We won't shoot that bad in any other games this series.
2. Gobert will play more than 25 minutes in every other game this series (unless there is some crazy blowout victory by the jazz)
3. Brooks won't be that good offensively in any other game this series.
4. Donovan will play more minutes than he did in game 1 in every other game this series.

I also don't think Clarkson will play as bad as he did in game one in any other game this series though I'm not going to put a guarantee on that.

I doubt the refs are as bad as they were game 1 in the rest of the series.

The jazz better wear the ****ing dark mode jerseys when the dark mode court.

They should wear those jerseys in every damn home game of the playoffs imo. Should have worn them in game 1

Before going to the game, my son had asked me if he thought the refs would rig the game against us. I had to bring him back down to reality and help him realize that the league doesn't care about the outcome of this game, and also felt reassured because I've never had an issue with Kenny Mauer. Now, not implying this had anything to do with the league, but damn was I wrong. It was pretty damn bad. So while I'd agree with you, I'm also open to being surprised.

I won’t be there, so we got this.
Same. Last game I went to before this was when we got smoked by LAL last year and LeBron danced on the court when he wasn't in the game.

My son also asked me if I'd been to a playoff game, and I thought back to the last time and it was when we were playing Sacramento waaaay back when. Vlade hit a damn three in the crunch.

Don't discount our inability to defend a player like Brooks. Look what Murray did last year. We allowed an 18 ppg player to post not one but two 50-point games in a single series. Something that had never been done until Mitchell did it, not a surprise given his abilities, but then we let Murray did the same ****ing thing. It won't surprise me to see Brooks post more then 1 thirty-point game in this series. Either that or we will let Morant go off for his own 40-50 point spurt. But that is our achilles heel no doubt and we did nothing to plug that hole between last playoffs and now.

This is the mustiest win of all must wins ever... MUST EFFING WIN GAME.
It's going to be a Grizz beatdown like they've never experienced. Rudy and DM are no doubt pissed off - I'm wondering which of the two is more angry. I would say DM for what he went through game 1 but he seems to be way more laid back than Rudy (who's wound tight and has a temper) so I think it's a valid question. I think Rudy tends to explode while DM has more of a slow burn of anger. Between the two of them I think the Grizz are 100% ****ed - the rest of the team needs to feed off their aggression of Rudy and DM (I think Ingles Niang and Royce have the personalities that will best be able to do that).

All of this.

Niang is pissed and so is Bojan. I think that loss was needed to light the fire in our guys

I think the Jazz will wake up and play at a higher level, and along with it, pick up a win. Jazz were sluggish in Game 1 after a week off, and weren't well prepped since they only had one practice after the Grizzlies won their play-in games.

Hope you are right... I mean this Grizz team is playing really well at the right time. I think we beat em... but not sure we give em a beat down.

I think the Grizz will have a few 15+ point losses. Someone made the valid argument that we barely lost without DM and a few key players didn't shoot well - I think they said it was the 2nd worst shooting game. I didn't check those numbers but since they weren't refuted I'll reference that post.

They could also have a hot shooting game... they were solid but not insane. Maybe Bane or Allen have a Bryn Forbes game. Don also might come out rusty and now you need a few things to break right or you are toast.

I think the keys are:

-Limit live ball turnovers to not gift them transition opportunities.
-Don't buy their ********... let Brooks talk... let JV hit you and flop... don't retaliate or let it knock you off your game.
-Guys have to come in and really help Rudy rebound... when he steps up to snuff out drives or extend to the mid range we have to have everyone crashing to clean up the mess.

I didn't list shooting because I don't expect us to shoot that poorly again. We took some bad ones but also missed too many open ones.
