Michael Cohen

I've heard some conservatives in the run-up deflecting whatever they thought he could say, just listing all of his other testimonies before various investigators that've been proven as lies....

Look, the methods for developing evidence on Trump are convincing.... to most conservatives.... that the investigation is a campaign with a fixed purpose. Given enough time, and enough pressure.... it's bound to produce false assertions or false testimonies or claims. With "evidence" manufactured to make the case. In this amount of time, skilled artisans could have manufactured almost anything.... voice productions, video productions....let alone paper documents.

I haven't seen the evidence.

But without anything like all that..... No sensible person today really believes that various nations don't play all the angles for getting influence with the US. That means everyone in politics is continually being "worked" by "interests".

But hey..... here's what Michael Cohen's statement today says on page 16:

"
Questions have been raised about whether I know of direct evidence that Mr. Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia. I do not. I want to be clear. But, I have my suspicions."

Then.... about the letters to Trump's schools..... about the grades. The records are in fact private and should not be released without his permission....

Maybe I'll read the rest of the statement later. Done for now. Malicious prosecution with bribed or extorted witnesses.

thought it would be worth starting a new thread on this. His statement that was just released is... wow! Just wow! Tomorrow promises to be lit! What do you guys think? How damaging is his testimony? And what will happen to Matt Gaetz after his obvious attempt to intimidate Cohen from testifying failed?

Let us know when Trump his being handcuffed and escorted out of the White House.

Man, he's quipping pretty well.

Gosar: You are a disgraced lawyer. We've been disbarred. I'm sure you remember, maybe you don't remember, duty of loyalty, duty of confidentiality, attorney-client privilege. I think the gentleman over your right side actually understands that very, very well and would aren't do what you are doing here today. So let's go back at this credibility. You want us to make sure that we think of you as a real philanthropic icon, that you're about justice that you're the person that someone would call at 3:00 in the morning. No, they wouldn't. Not at all. We saw Mr. Comer dissect you right in front of this committee you conflicted your testimony, sir. You're a pathological liar. You don't know truth from falsehood.

Cohen: Sir, I'm sorry. Are you referring to me or the President?

Meadows: Well, I'm glad you acknowledge that because you made some very demeaning comments about the President that Ms. Patton doesn't agree with. In fact, it has to do with your claim of racism. She says that as a daughter of a man born in Birmingham, Alabama, that there is no way that she would work for an individual who was racist. How do you reconcile the two of those?

Cohen: And neither should I as the son of a Holocaust survivor.

Been pretty entertaining so far. Not that it matters. We already know Trump is a crook.
Yeah, the cake is already baked. Those who back the President will discount anything Cohen says and believe it's a witchhunt. Those who are against the President, are already convinced he is a warlock and the witchhunt is completely justified.

That said, Watergate was nowhere near this wild.

Meh. I’d love Trump to be impeached, well maybe not because Pence might be worse, but yeah, he sucks, and the two minutes of sound bytes I just saw made me think the guy is as believeable as Trump himself. I’m not even saying that because he’s a convicted felon either. He just doesn’t sound trustworthy.

That said, it’s the evidence that matters. I know he supplied some $35,000 check from one of Trump’s personal bank accounts but I have trouble believing Trump was dumb enough to do that for a porn chick from his own account while President.

I already believed Trump was a cheat, a liar, a racist, and a con man prior to him announcing that he was running for President. So this doesn't change anything for me.

It likely won't change anyone else's mind either, whether pro or con. And nothing will come of it. Republican congress fear him too much, Democrats overreach, and it won't change anything in the long run.

I'm surprised this is your takeaway. Everything he said matches up perfectly with what we've seen from Trump as a person. He has absolutely no reason to lie, he's going to jail and refrained from fingering Trump in a number of scandals that he easily could have if he wasn't there to tell the truth. Really just felt like a broken dude telling the truth to me. If there was a legitimate reason that benefits him by lying, I'd reconsider, Cohen is certainly no saint. But that's not how it seemed to me.

The republicans line of questioning most of the time was completely embarrassing.

Overall it was a fun way to spend a day at work.

Democrats overreach?

Why shouldn’t they begin impeachment proceedings right now? They haven’t. But why shouldn’t they? This is far worse than watergate or lying about getting a BJ from an intern.

Most of what happened today amounted to little more than political grandstanding. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bucked that trend with a clever line of questioning into Trump's strategy of undervaluing his properties to the IRS while inflating their value to insurance companies, which laid solid groundwork for his tax returns to be subpoenaed, as well as questioning long time Trump Org CFO Allen Weisselberg. It was pretty refreshing.

Here's why I think he was telling the truth... he is going to prison for 3 years. The total number of years he is in jeopardy of serving? 70. If he lies to congress again the plea deal could be voided. He faces being locked up for the whole time if he is caught lying.

Exactly. He gains nothing by lying.

But what would trump and the republicans gain by trying to attack him rather than provide evidence of refutation to his claims?

I found it interesting that for 15 minutes today Hannity ripped Cohen a new one yet enver disclosed that he was one of the extremely few clients Cohen had.

Hmmm
The GOP was tweeting all day about how the DEMOCRATS were using KNOWN LIAR Cohen as a distraction or some such nonsense, as though he wasn't until rather recently the ****ing Deputy Finance Chair for the RNC. It's ridiculously brazen.
