Mike James in town for a workout

From David Locke: Point guard Mike James tweeted he was in Utah for a workout, mentioned the altitude is a killer, glad he had been working with John Lucas. With James workout with the Jazz, that is two veteran point guards in two days with reports of Earl Watson being the other.

In his day, Mike James was quite a shooter. The Jazz seem set on finding a veteran PG. Are Ronnie Price's days numbered?

Rather have him than Gaines (I think). He seemed like a bit of a prima donna with chucker tendencies if i remember right, so I don't know. But hey, it's something.

He is exactly what you said. But he is good at the pick and roll and is a good catch and shoot player. Good 3 point shooter (in comparison to the rest of our team).

We should look into trading for Eric Maynor. I hear that kid's pretty good.

Eric Maynor's legacy didn't start to take off until after we traded him. Before we traded him he was a chucker that shot a low percentage from the field and was a liability defensively.

Is that sarcasm, Honz? Maynor was playing pretty darn good, IMO, when we unfortunately traded him. The only poor performance I remember was when he got schooled by Ty Lawson, but I think a lot of that had to do with his inexperience.

That's not the point, slugger. The point is that he finally gave the Jazz another player besides Deron who could actually create shots, and was a freakishly athletic player on a team that needs athleticism, and was young and mature, and was so impressive in certain facets of his game that he'd even earned a little bit of trust from Sloan. The complaints you list are common of many rookies. Most rookie guards are mediocre-to-poor defenders, so that's a moot point. Anyway, I still think the trade had to be made - a team like Utah can't give up the chance to save $10 million when all it needs to give up is a backup PG - it's just unfortunate that the team had to part with one of its most promising young players in years. I mean, take a look at Utah's first round picks the last decade - in 26 games, Maynor was already better than most of them.

I loved the Maynor pick when we drafted him and liked him as a player on the Jazz, but he definitely "got better" once we traded him.
