Mods, you know this will end in a political debate, so that's why it's being posted here.

The NBA is moving the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte because of its objection to North Carolina House Bill 2, which limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people in the state.

In a statement, the league said it hopes to reschedule the game for Charlotte in 2019.

I tried looking for how much of a financial hit that will be and found this article talking about last season's game in Toronto.

Toronto was the place to be. From A-list actors to Grammy-winning musicians, the parties were plentiful and the streets abuzz. Other than team defence in the All-Star game, the only things you couldn't find in the city were reservations in restaurants and hotels. Free-spending tourists provided Toronto with what is expected to be over $100-million dollars in economic benefit.

Well they got balls. Good for them.

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in NBA style
In the air there's a feeling of jurisprudence
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you hear
Silver balls, Silver balls...
