I need a new queen bed and will be hitting up the Labor Day sales. I last bought a bed in 1994 (a Sealy) and it is obviously past its prime, but it held up well with the addition of a memory foam topper.

I'm thinking of getting a memory foam hybrid bed. But I'm not married to the idea. So what would you suggest? And where would you suggest buying? (I live in the Ogden Utah area). Thanks in advance.

I have a Sealy posture pedic and the thing that makes the bed lift up so you can sit up. It is the best mattress I have ever slept on and that's a big deal for me because I have major back issues.

Pro tip: Don't rush into buying, take your time and do your homework. Also, lay on every mattress that you are thinking of buying.

My wife and I have a Helix mattress with a bed topper. And I also bought a Medcline pillow for her and I and the combination has helped us to sleep better than ever before.

It's an investment but it was worth it for us.

Edit: we're both side sleepers.

My wife and I recently purchased a new mattress from Zinus. The price was phenomenal, and that video helped us realize that price doesn't really mean superior quality. So we tried out the style, loved it, and are thrilled with the mattress. The only question is, will it last as long as the more expensive ones? At that price, I don't know if it matters. I think we did the Cooling Hybrid listed on their site, in a King.

Check out the mattressunderground forums. Too many of the mattress review sites are fishy with their affiliate links. The top rated Consumer Reports bed is the Avocado Green Mattress which is a latex hybrid bed. Luckily I live close to a Nest showroom so I could try some out. Ended up with a Nest Latex Hybrid in plush because I'm a side sleeper. Good luck, mattress shopping sucks. I almost bought the Avocado without trying it, but some people said it was too firm for side sleepers, even with the optional mattress topper.

Get one with an adjustable base. My wife and I will never go back to a conventional base. Raising your head and feet a little makes a world of difference.

I think our mattress is either a Beauty Rest or a Sealy from RC Wiley. They have plenty of different types so you can test to see which one you like. We got it a few years ago and have no complaints, it’s awesome. It’s a spring (hybrid) mattress. We didn’t like full memory foam because of the smell and how it retains heat more than a spring.

Good luck!

Costco. If you don't like it after a year or more you can return it for a full refund. They have some nice Sealy's in stock for under $1000.

GL. I always buy as firm as I can but my wife likes softer ones since she has a dunk and a huge rack. So we bought the kind that is firm on one side and soft on the other. I often try to sleep on my back as long as I can into the night with no pillows. That’s good for one’s back.

Mattress Firm. I have not had an adjustable base before, but am excited about it as I often read and watch TV in bed and am sick of adjusting pillows.
