Inspired by the Trade Mike Conley thread. Was thinking about this and there are a lot of potential candidates you could propose and I'd be like "yeah... I can see that".

Royce?

Mitchell-Royce-Ingles-Bojan-Gobert...
I assumed Royce was a SF or PF. It doesn't matter what you call them though... I'm looking for the guy that replaces Conley in the starting lineup (ingles will come off the bench this year I am assuming).

Possibly Hughes, but there are a few guys in this next draft class who might be starter quality by mid-season next season.

David Johnson at Louisville is one. But there's just a ton of 6'5" guards in this next draft.

If the question is, who will it be, then the answer is Mike Effing Conley, because he will always start, period.

If it is who should start I'd vote for Ingles.

Except this is for next season not this season and Mike will be gone.

Conley ain't coming back unless Ryan reached an agreement offline with him that would give the man a whole golf course or 30yr free membership or something like that. In that case Adam Silver will probably take away our second round picks for the next 15 years which DL will accept with excitement.

So you think. There is always the possibility that DL doubles down and offers an extension.
Based on what it would cost it will be quadrupling down. The tax is really prohibitive and I don’t think we’d burn that much cash for Mike.

When they didn’t do the renegotiate and extend that was when I knew he was gone.

I went with Oni... I’m worried this is the last good Ingles year. After the olympics this summer I could see Joe deciding to relax his last year... I hope I’m wrong cuz I love me some jingling Joe.

I’m going with Conley at a meh, but palatable, new deal
Unless he takes like the taxpayer MLE type money I don't see the money working out. Tax will be a major concern... there should be a lot of dumb money on the market and not a lot of guys to spend on. I am guessing he gets a big one year from NY or someone like that before entering the phase of his career where he takes the minimum to ring chase.

I like the potential fit of Oni or Hughes if they are for real. Development this year is gonna be huge.

Fingers crossed that Quin and the staff learnes from last season that they need to give their youngsters some PT for development!
