*Gobert takes a massive step forward. He also demonstrates that his ceiling is even higher.
*Hayward takes a big step forward. And even bigger step forward in the playoffs.
*Injuries cost us somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 games (win-shares).
*Lyles, Hood, Favors, Exum all have bad seasons.
*We finish the season with serious injury depletions while being below the salary floor.
*Q establishes himself as a legit top-10 coach in the league. The offensive and defensive schemes complexify + in-game adjustments improve
*Veteran presence (Hill, Diaw, Johnson) greatly improve end-game execution and add considerably to the win total and overall grit.

*on the minorest of minor issues, 2016-17 will also be the last of my full-time posting on JFC. I'm logging out tonight and going cold turkey. I got results back on a medical test recently, and the results were a bit eye-opening. I think I'll be aided by cutting back my screen time as much as possible, so obvi JFC is getting cut. I'm not deleting my account, though, because I'll want to log back in next year when we reach the playoffs again (FAgency permitting, of course).

ciao broughs,

P.S. I will be sporadically reachable at nevadamapper@gmail.com, if anybody want to alert me about something.

thanks franklin, UB, Siro, salt13, GVC, Handlogden's Heros, Ellis269, Cy, NUMBERICA, babe, PKM, Vermin, Cappy_Smurf, mellow, Catchall, b_line, spycam1, JustTheTip, infection, MT Steve, Prodigy, tonsertmits, stitches, candrew, jope, Archie, addictionary, Zulu, and I'm sure there's more I'll feel bad about forgetting right now.

Sorry to hear about your health issues ... never realized you were such a serious poster, nor even that people take this board so seriously or personally. Best of luck.

The Millers sold the fans another bill of goods. Tank for years and bring in the guy who "will not skip steps". Meanwhile they are cashing in behind the scenes. Lowest payroll in the league last season when you are trying to compete?

Good luck with the LA Clipper-lite model because that's what we've got.

Will miss NAOS... will always have dat cakkk doe. Good luck!

This season to me:

The Front Office was totally validated in their moves to bring in Hill, Diaw, and Johnson.

Gordon Hayward proved beyond any doubt that he is an elite forward in the league.

Rudy Gobert proved that his ceiling is unlimited not due to his physical gifts but to his competitiveness, heart, and attitude.

Gail Miller and the Miller family gifted the Jazz to the community, walking away from billion(s) of dollars.

Qualtircs bought the rights to defile the sanctity of the Jazz uniform. Yeah yeah I know it's for cancer and blah blah. If they really wanted to do right they would have bought the space and then refused to run an ad on it. Then I would have bought some Quals or whatever the f they sell.

Quin Snyder climbed up to the grown-ups coaches table, and asked Gregg Popovich to pass him the potatoes. Which Pop did.

Rodney Hood, Dante Exum, and Trey Lyles all got a front-row seat to what an offseason of busting your *** looks like and what its results are. It is now up to them if they want to make a leap like Gordon Hayward and Rudy Gobert have done.

Alec Burks and Derrick Favors remain two injured yet talented gamers who could still potentially contribute big-time although it is becoming increasingly more apparent that that contribution may take the form of a package trade deal that brings the Jazz a better player.

Joe Ingles basically laughing in anyone's face when they tried to act hard towards him.

Jeff Withey's legendary DNP-Legal reasons?

Most importantly it exposed my ignorance of basketball because I would not have played Mack at all in the Golden State series I would have just went with X.

For me, this season gave me hope, for the first legit time since S 2 M (Hallowed be their names), that the Jazz are possible contenders moving forward. Not a fake, one year patch, but a legit attempt at building what looks like a winning and contending team for a few years. Call me happy.

Jazz did great keeping all injuries in mind. I expected 51 wins and said if they win first round it is fantastic. Would be nice to beat GSW at least once but generally I am happy how this season turned out. Next year they should make next step forward and hopefully in 2018-2019 they will be contenders for the title.

I agree with almost all of this except the Hood and Favors parts. It's not very fair to say Favors had a bad season given his injuries. And Hood, while wildly inconsistent and disappointing, shot a career high from 3 iirc. Disappointing sure but I wouldn't say it was bad.

51 wins is great considering the injury problems. But our playoff run showed we are still far from being a serious contender. Inability to close out game 3 and game 6 against clippers. The close end game in game 5 despite of our much better play. And basically we couldnt just do anything vs GSW. Well they are great but i expected more fight. We couldnt even put them in any hardship any time in any game.
It was a great year but not that great. And this offseason is gonna be like pandoras box. You never know whats gonna come out until october. I really wish the management good luck on making decisions about free agents, drafts and trades whatever. It will show us how good we can be in years to go.

It will be DL's toughest off season. July 1st will be a maelstrom. How long does he give Hayward and Hill to make their decision? Waiting too long and you miss out on Gallo, Holiday, Lowry, etc
