If anything, firing a coach when the team is under-performing is a sign that the Pistons still want to get to the playoffs. That said, the Pistons shouldn't renew Dumars' contract after this season. They've reached the point where the inability to put a roster together with the right coach for that roster falls totally on Dumars' shoulders. Yes, he put together a great roster that won a title and were title contenders for several years later, but biffing the Darko pick likely kept the team from winning more championships, and he's done a terrible job of rebuilding, starting with the Billups-Afflalo for Iverson deal.
