We have had a really rough time vs the Clips for a while now. what is your gut feeling at this point on who wins the series and how convincingly? Any matchups you're worried about? Any playoff break outs for Jazz players? What must the Jazz do in this playoff series for it to be considered a successful post season run?

I think the Jazz will be competitive but won't quite be able to win the series because the Clippers are more experienced and it looks pretty certain they'll have home court.

I think this will be Rudy Gobert's national stage coming out party. I think he'll emerge in a big way, even going against Jordan.

J.J Redick and Crawford are going to be the guys that swing the series in the Clippers favor. Jamal always torches us. this series won't be any different and Redick is going to bury a lot of heart-breaking-damn-it-all-to-hell-screw-you-clippers 3 point shots.

Joe Johnson is gonna have some big moments in this series too though.

Hayward will have a chance to solidify himself in the national sports consciousness as an elite player but I am not expecting him to. What I've seen from Hayward in the NBA is the bigger the game the more he can't hit 3's. I think its because he gets into his own head too much. like he's not relaxed but super tense. (Note to Gordon Hayward: please meditate before each of these games.) I would like someone to do research on Hayward's 3 point shooting % in games deemed as really important (I know thats subjective but there does seem to be a consensus we can base this on) because I swear every game but the last clipper game in Utah, Hayward's 3 point % has got to be sub 20% or something. It's probably much better than that but it feels that bad to me. Prove me wrong G. Show me you can hit 3's in important games!

Quin is gonna out coach Doc hard but no one outside Jazz land will be talking about it.

If Favors could play at 80% I'd say the Jazz will win the series but I'm so incredibly incredulous Derrick Favors will ever be good again. Downward spiral from here. I've already sold all my property on Derrick Favors starting PF for the Jazz Island. and my Favors Jersey was used as thread to tie my raft together. RIP Derrick Favors the athletic big that runs the floor like a gazelle and is a miniature version of Orlando Magic Dwight Howard. It was fun while it lasted.

Joe Ingles is gonna play himself into a 12-14 million a year contract.

If he plays, Mack might kill our offense more often than it gets it going but he'll probably have 1 game where he's really helpful.

Dante. Exum. Isn't. A. Point. Guard. at least not this season. Please Quin , keep Dante off the ball in the playoffs.

Rondey Hood will win us one game in the playoffs

Stephen A Smith will be forced to talk about the Jazz on First Take and it will be glorious.

Thread is too early. Seeding not decided yet.

My prediction is the series goes 7 games. If 7 is in slc jazz win. If 7 is in LA then clipps win.

I'd rather not get my hopes up that the Clippers will lose to the Kings at home. It's easier this way because then there is no let down if one just accepts Jazz are in 5th. Just a defense mechanism because I care too much...

Injuries could happen in these final games as well.

I dont think the NBA lets the Clippers lose this series. They have star power and we dont. We will have to overcome more elite players, a premiere PG and probably most of the "star treatment" calls late in each game.

Can we do it? Yes. It will take 3 or 4 great performances by Hood , Hill and Johnson while Hayward has to show up for all 4 wins and Gobert stays out of foul trouble. And Favors needs to be present and solid with double double performances throughout.

I agree with Fish.
It feels like a 7 game series. Maybe the HCA decides it.

I don't know why, but I am expecting Hayward to be inconsistent in the series. If he is at his best for the entire series, and doesn't go missing for whole halves, then I think Jazz win and Hayward becomes a nationally recognized star.

If Favors, Hill and Hood are all healthy then I think we win. I'd also like to have Neto healthy.

If Utah can steal an opening game on the road, they're set, easy pickins from there (This Utah team is built for that 2-3-2 format; steal one on the road and try to close it out at home)... If not, I expect them to be fairly demoralized, panicked and lose in 5 or 6 games..

The opening half of the 1st game should really be telling, they're either gonna go right at Rudy and try to get him in foul trouble, or they're gonna try to avoid him at all costs..

The Clippers are going to be playing with the fury of many eliminations past ingrained in their minds.

Favors vs Blake is the key matchup. If Favors can stymie him, the onus to put up points falls almost completely on their guards.

UTA in 6, not confident tho. Clips will need to pull out all the stops to make it happen, if they do tho, they've got enough firepower to take the Jazz out.

Hopefully Doc has em too wound up, too overcoached, which is difficult seeing as CP3 is there too.. Can't wait.

2 things that I think are good for the jazz in this series.
1. They have been pretty good on the road this year.
2. More importantly, the injuries might be a blessing in disguise. I don't think any bench in these playoffs has played as many minutes as the jazz bench this season. Their depth is tremendous due to all the injuries.

Point guards: close to a wash. Gotta give a very slight edge to cp3.

Wings: big advantage for the jazz. Hayward is much better than any of their wings and that is our deepest position as well.

Power forward: pretty big edge to the clippers.

Center: close to a wash. I give a slight edge to rudy.

Bench: I give a pretty decent edge to the jazz due to the experience they got from all the injuries. JJ and jingles are awesome. Diaw should provide good value. Our point guards all have played a ton and all have played well often.

Coaches: I have no idea. It's hard to evaluate coaches imo. I'm gonna call it a tie.

I would love to get homecourt but either way the jazz have a shot here.

Superstar calls might be the deciding factor unfortunately.

Jazz are going to go into this will all major hands on deck from game 1. Neto might be the only hold out.

Snyder gonna give the league a view of some mad scientist game plans.

Gobert demands sacrifice!

Jazz win

Do you guys remember how much of a bad *** Favors was when we played the spurs in the playoffs? Big Al almost wet himself, but Favors was like "screw this, I'm officer Favors" and had a few 20 and 10 games. That is how he is gonna play this time, and everyone is going to get Favors boners, and we will have a big three again.

I mean, we all know Rudy is going to dominate, and Hayward will do Hayward ****, but Favors is the key to this team being a dark horse contender.

I am calling it now, we will win the first round, and then take GS to 7 games, winning a nail biter in Oakland, while Derrick Favors takes a leak on Draymond Green's corpse. Then Kawhi will be so scared of Rudy that instead of showing up to the series, he will just send a clip of Big Al talking about how the games were merely a formality of losing to such a great team.

Finals are anyobody's ball game. Jazz in 4 over a story book Boston team that starts a midget at the point guard.

First round in the west is gonna be awesome other than gs vs porty.

Okc vs houston could go either way and will be a competitive series.

Memphis vs spurs could go either way and will be competitive.

Jazz clipps will be awesome.

All the of those serious are very intriguing matchup wise as well.

Should be lots of fun

For us old timers, a series with the Clippers reminds me of the season series against the Lakers in the 1997-98 season.

Game 1 (1st game of the 1997-98 season):
Jazz 87
Lakers 104

Game 2:
Lakers 97
Jazz 92

Game 3:
Lakers 91
Jazz 106

Game 4 (Game 82 of the 1997-98 season):
Jazz 98
Lakers 102

The Lakers had been dominant over the Jazz. They had prime Shaq. They had Kobe and his new dope 'fro. They were still coached by Frank Drebin, I mean Del Harris. This was the IT team. Jazz finished with a 62-20 record, the Lakers 61-21. They were gonna beat the boring old stupid Jazz.

Go ahead, check out what happened in the Western Conference Finals.

Jazz swept their asses.

Nick Van Excel began cheering "CANCUN" when they would break out of timeouts.

That's what's going to happen. Clips are going to get swept. And everyone is going to be surprised that it wasn't even that close.

Watch. It's going to end Doc Rivers career, Blake Griffin as a Clipper, and DeAndre Jordan as a woman in all those commercials.

The thing I'm keeping my eye on is how well we defend their guards. We can still beat them if Griffin has a field day, but we have to keep their guard-play off-balance.

So, rank of worries:

1. Hill's health
2. Is Exum's recent improvement on D real?
3. Hood's health and rhythm.
4. Neto's health. We definitely need all options.

I remember that. I was in college and supposed to be studying or something like that, but I couldn't NOT watch the Jazz pull that off.
