"Prohibitive" favorties???

...explaining to me how the Heat have become the overwhelming favorites to win this finals against the Mav's? I was not impressed at ALL with the Heat in ANY of the series they won to even get to the finals! They shot poorly, turned the ball over profusely, and just in general, looked like a beatable team. Dallas, on the other hand, looked at least watchable, shot better, passed better and looked sharp most of the time! To illustrate: In the Heat's series against the Bull's, they had 73 assists....and 71 turnovers! Dallas, on the other hand, against the THunder, had 96 assists and 61 turnovers. Now, I ask you....who should be the "prohibitive" favorite???

Dallas should be the favorites. They shoot better, they pass better, they defend better, they rebound better. They've got more depth, experience, speed, and height.

However, it is looking like the refs will give Miami an extra 10 to 20 points a game.
They have the edge in flopping, cheating, hitting, injuring opponents, drawing fouls on bad calls, and getting the benefit of the doubt from the refs in all sorts of situations. Heck, sometimes they get away with playing 6 guys on the court without a penalty.

It should be a competitive series.

....if the refs call this series fair and square...the Mav's will win. I just don't see how the Heat can shoot as poorly as they do....pass as poorly as they do....rebound as poorly as they do....and ACTUALLY win this series with the Mav's!

Because they have 3 of the top 4 players on the court? Well see...

Bosh isn't that good. While Dallas's D might not be as good as the Bulls overall, their PF's are better man defenders. He won't have Boozer's uninspired D on him, or Noah and Gibson jumping at every pump fake he throws. Plus Bosh is going to have his hands full on the defensive end handling Dirk which will lower his offensive efficiency most likely.

Plus, the Mavs have a closer who can match the Heat's closers. A lot of the Bulls games where close, but it came down to the Bulls having zero closing ability.

Maybe individually speaking, but the role Terry plays is more important to winning than the role Bosh plays for the Heat.

Meh, depends on whats needed from him. There certainly have been games throughout the season where Bosh was 'the guy' for the night.

But if your saying the Mavs have a worse player in a more important role, I think that's a tally in the Heat column.

The Heat are the favourites because they are the more star-studded team with a history of getting help from the refs when needed(2006). Factor in the homecourt advantage which becomes more important in a 2-3-2 format.
I would love to see Dallas pull this off and make everybody eat some crow.Carlisle would have to badly outcoach Spoelstra for that to happen

I wouldn't call them overwhelming favorites. Look at the odds. Looks like Miami is the favorite but not by a whole lot.
