Pre Game
Utah is without Hassan today so I’d expect garland to go to jarrett early and try and get gobert into foul trouble
if they are going to put Gobert on Okoro Allen has to eat on the boards
gonna have to be a big night for Mobley he’s too big for O’neal
1st Half
Is Jarrett Allen, the 4th best center in basketball right now!?
Ruddy, Jokic, Bam, and......yes
Donovan Mitchell is cooking man wtf
The Jazz don't miss
Where is the defense bum Mitchell goes down the lane for a free dunk. Mitchell looks good but in the playoffs he was on lock shooting
That ‘bum’ put 15 up on us so far...
Mitchell is probably the best young player in the league I have no idea why Lauri is guarding him
Shoutout Clarkson I actually liked him a lot
that was the most disgusting possession i’ve ever seen so far this season. no one ****ing moved and Ricky dribbled it out.
The Allen-Gobert matchup is not disappointing
Jazz & these offensive rebounds…
Kevin Love has been terrible so far.
2nd Half
That was an amazing comeback. Maybe Cavs lost but they showed their potential against best team in normal seasons
You had a 5 on 4 before the timeout. Should've played it out instead of calling timeout.
Half court 3 was our best shot?
Great defense underneath Darius had no choice tbh
Need to figure out 2 things in this half to help us win:
How we can limit their 3 ball
How we can utilize Okoro on Gobert matchup
thoughts so far:
we need to figure out a way to punish gobert playing free safety off okoro. if he’s not going to shoot the 3 at least get him some pin down screens off ball to get gobert somewhat moving around.
this game is going to be won on offense by us being able to hit our 3’s in the second half. mobley and allen did as well as they could on offense in the first half but man does gobert neutralize a lot of their interior game
when gobert is not playing, ATTACK the basket. screen and roll over and over
on defense, the jazz are tough to handle. they have so many shooters. royce neutralizes mobley’s insane defense quite a bit… and you can’t play off him because he can shoot it. tbh the jazz are just a tough tough matchup for us
Mobley had 6’4” Royce O’Neal guarding him and we a contested logo 3 down 1 point
This is crazy, they are not guarding Okoro at all, no one was even on his side of the court.
Jazz gotta go cold for a few possessions eventually... right? ... right? Please?
Hell of a game, so proud of this team, Utah is just a really good team
That’s probably not how that last play was drawn up but you gotta get something going towards the basket. That was terrible shot selection. Garland could have taken a runner to the hoop around the pick or given it to Allen down low. But great comeback. Cedi has been phenomenal this year. Very surprisingly.
2nd time this season Garland takes a long 3 as the last shot only down 1 point. He is an awesome young player but needs to be smarter at the end of the game.
Especially with 2 big men on the floor.
Great effort from both teams. Sucks Garland couldn’t find the spot, but the defense was just really solid from the Jazz.
I know Garland has good range, but that isnt the shot you want down by one
Damn I cant stand Donovan Mitchell lmao
He’s an overpaid chucker and choker
Post Game
We deserved that so much. They shot the lights out and hit 20 3s and we lost by 1
I don’t care what anyone says this is the most fun I’ve had watching the Cavs since 2016
Upset with the loss. But proud of the way this team performed. Came down to one possession against the best offense in the league.
Unreal game, so much fun despite the loss. How Utah can spam 3s so effectively is so frustrating
Jazz played great D at the end there
Damn the refs love Mitchell. Won't even call gobert on an obvious moving screen or for smacking Rubio in the face.
Utah jazz are just f'n good.
Last season Cavs lost with 39 and 30 to Jazz... I think we're on a right track! Go Cavs!!
God ****ing dammit man. We were right there. So impressive to come back, just gotta be able to turn it into a lead. Such a good game.
One of our toughest match ups cause of goberts presence tbh.
Insanely happy with how we fought back. Unlucky we couldn’t get a great look for the last shot, but I still like dg shooting those, he was on fire all night and gobert was stuffing every drive.
Jarrett Allen tried his feasting on Gobert like he was just another bum and Gobert wasn’t having that ****. That’s why he wins DPOY’s I guess
Yeah I mean JA still played decently, but Gobert is a top center in the league for a reason. I think he gets underrated cause the clippers 5 out series, but the man is insane vs traditional line ups, and practically keeps the jazz defense afloat single-handedly. Plus we saw the extra chance points he gave his team that hurt us. He’s nuts.
Think AC said they were 27/51 their last game. I was pretty impressed they look like a really well coached and talented team. How in the world have they not gone further in the playoffs?
Rubio two missed wide open 3s in the final minute or so are what cost us the game, not the final possession. Great game but man that loss stings. Hope we bounce back tomorrow, but this schedule is ********.
the Jazz are one of the few teams who actually scout during the regular season. the Wizards didnt force Okoro to shoot at all.
Jazz are kinda built to beat the Cavs. Rudy Gobert can limit Allen’s size and they are deadeyes when shooting 3’s. Cavs need their outside shooting games to be better and that starts with Markkennan getting back on track and Okoro needing to catch and shoot. I don’t even care if he makes it, Okoro needs to shoot every time they leave him alone.
My only fear is all these amazing players that are emerging on the cavs this year will sign crazy contracts somewhere else next year
congrats to the utah jazz and the referees on gifting them a win!
Hard to beat a 16-7 team when every single ref is on the Utah pay roll & their role players seemingly hit every single three. The refs handed them 6 free points on blatant wrong calls alone.
Anyone complaining about this needs to find another team to watch. We only lost by 1 to a team who made 20 threes. Any other night that's a dub, we jusy won in 3 straight road blowouts.
