Think this is going to be a very difficult game. Jazz are a very good, consistent defensive team. They've added even more defensive pieces actually this year. We're going to need to win a slow, grind it out type game which is probably a good test for this team. Limiting Hood and Johnson is key.

The new warm ups with the hoods are strange.

i like what I see in Quin Snyder interviews the last few years. He is really bright even if his law degree and MBA come from Duke.*

It’s the same thing every year: no one pays attention to Utah and they end up being a great team. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re better than the Nuggets this year, so they should be favored at home on opening night. Anything can happen, as the first two*NBA*games have shown, so hopefully it will be a competitive game and fun to watch, but I expect the Jazz to win.

Gobert is actually pretty good on offense
Sure, Utah isn’t a great offensive team, but they’re not scrubs. The Denver defense hasn’t shown it can stop even mediocre players from lighting them up.

Rubio is like a hot dog without the sausage
sure you have the bun, relish, ketchup etc. representing the passes, steals, defense that he does pretty well and gives him nice advanced stats, but you’re missing the key ingredient (putting the ball in the basket), and without it, his overall lack of gravity just makes it easier on teams to defend his team.

Mitchell is a good player for a rookie. That’s obvious

Jazz have one hell of a defensive team on paper

The Jazz announcers are really good

Barton is our whole offense right now
21 points

Jokic at 2, 5, 4
Gobert giving him a lot of trouble, and his shot continues to seem off.

why are they not guarding Jingles?

our point guard, Jokic has 6 assists in the first half

We're playing at the pace we'd prefer, but the game is closer than you'd like considering how poor Utah's offense is supposed to be.

Damn, Mitchell is looking more and more legit.
Great choice by Utah.
Nuggets 10-17 on 3s
That’s your game right there.
Dare I say it...
So far so good? Some sloppy/bad play from certain lineups but overall, can’t say I’m complaining?
starting to pull away

6-0 start should be easy

Ingles killing us...ugh.

Aussie Joe killing us

Since when can Rubio shoot?

Barton with 21 on 100% shooting

Don't want to get too excited. But I'm pretty sure we're going 82-0.

So even in the return to Utah, Lyles is out of the rotation? Yikes.

This is the type of game they fumbled away last year. Let's see.

It seems like Favors never missing against the Nuggets

Gobert making Steph Curry shots! Hah!

He's not been great
But Utah is doing a great job of getting it to Gobert in position as well, hard to stop him when he’s that low.

Here comes the run.
Ugh. Just ugh.

Fun while it lasted. Hey Malone, we have a million power forwards on the team. f***ing use one against Joe Johnson.

Damn joe johnson

joe johnson always makes tough shots againt us

Udoh is great pickup by Jazz
and whats new J.Johnson as always is super clutch against us

Here comes the loss.
Blew a what..16 point lead?
Well that went south fast.

WTF did we do in one less than 2 minutes

Barton giveth, Barton taketh away.

I wish we had gotten Rubio.

First game of the season and I had to turn it off before it even ended. What a horrible way to start the season. Sick to my stomach.

Jazz on 27 to 3 run. The blame can be spread to everyone for this game's loss.

Barton - 21 first half points; 2 second half points.

I think we got out-coached by a mile on this one. Strategy, tactics, motivation, lineups. Snyder unlocked it and Malone and crew couldn't react accordingly.

How about a kick Malone in the balls thread.

boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Snyder is 100% a better coach than Malone. He's a phenomenal coach.

I just want to see Jokic in the post more receiving passes and then finding players cutting to the hoop. That worked well at the end of last season. I guess Gobert shut that s**t down more so than the Nuggets abandoning this strategy?

Wow. Now we get to see how the team responds to giving up such a large lead.

Every single one of these games against such opponents as Utah could have significant implications for playoff positioning at the end of the season.

uh.. wtf is happening?

We are going to lose by double digits after leading for 3 quarters.

how many coaches can watch as their team gets decimated by Alec Burks, 37-yearold Joe Johnson, and Epke Udoh [who spent the last 2 years in Turkey]?

Ug. The inhumanity..

Nearly every possession the past several minutes has been a disaster.

Utah - crowd and players - are fired up.
While our team just looks dejected.

Malone let it get to a 25-4 run before a TO?!?

What happened I took my dog for a walk and we were up by 10 and now we are down by 10.

That’s f***ing impressive. Up by 16 and down by 12 in 12 minutes. I mean that is probably some type of record except…well…I think we’ve done it a lot before.

This game is over. we are playing right into Utah's hand.

Snyder is coaching circles around Malone

Maybe the jazz are the best 4th quarter team ever?

what did the Jazz pay for Rubio again?
probably not much…could really use a smart PG who can play pestering D

we let a team that can't score point put 100+ on us

We are going to lose by 20.
TWENTY*F***ING*POINTS. WE*WERE*UP 16*WITH*6*MINUTES*LEFT*IN*THE*3RD*QUARTER.
HOW*THE*F****DOES*THAT*HAPPEN?

same **** different year
soft. soft. soft. soft.

Worst 4th quarter in Nuggets history?

3 points in the 4th...good god.

Havent made a shot in a calendar year.

Epke mother***ing udoh did that to you

Aye, the Nuggets certainly let the emotion in the arena bulldoze them.

Embarrassing.
Flat out embarrassing.

That was nauseating.

Can't wait to play...
San Antonio, Golden State, Oklahoma, Houston, Portland and Utah (some more).

Jazz bench unit + Mitchell feasted on our dysfunctional chandler centric unit that
so much about Chandler Starter talks…he never was positive contributor for a season

So that is what adjustments look like?
Must be nice, utah

13 point 4th quarter and an epic collapse
Absolutely pathetic.
and it should've been only 7
just discount the Mudiay’s 3s in the last minute… how can a*NBA*team score only 7 points in 11 minutes of a quarter?

8pt lead going into the 4th qtr, Murray showing signs of life in the 2nd halp, Joker closer to his double-double but needs to place himself into the scoring mode.

17-2 run by the Jazz....

Agreed...however when that run got going Denver was turning the ball over seconds into every possession, couldn’t even get setup. A lil defensive pressure and they folded. One of those guys they paid has got to be able to get the ball and get a bucket.

The team with all the offensive firepower in the world could not throw a brick into the ocean in the fourth quarter. With three minutes remaining in the game, the Nuggets had scored just five (!!!) points in the frame and had seen a five point lead fizzle into a 14 point deficit. Utah blitzed Denver on defense forcing 10 (!!!) fourth quarter turnovers and the Nuggets fell to a 106-96 loss.

Yes, it just one game. But it was a horrible loss no matter what way you look at it. The difference was simple: Utah upped its intensity in the fourth quarter and Denver folded like a chair. All night long Denver controlled the pace and was cruising, but when the Jazz adjusted there was no response. Instead, the Nuggets were pushed to the outside and when they did attack it was turnover after turnover after turnover.

Love it, we were playing a pretty poor defensive game overall for 2.75 quarters and the Nuggets were hitting their 3's. All of a sudden we hit the switch and the suffocating defense got the turnovers and easy transition buckets going.

Yet no real mention of Mitchell and Gobert originally being theirs... lots of suppression to keep that out of conscious awareness.

Joe Johnson is just so big in the development of this team. It makes me wonder where we would be right now if he hadn't signed here. Probably in that Nuggets chair.

Great thread as always, you put these together perfectly. Mostly positive comments until

"This is the type of game they fumbled away last year. Let's see"

And then it all falls apart.

As a bonus, here are some Celtic fan quotes after their 2nd loss of the season to give them an 0-2 record.

I miss IT.
Kyrie’s shot selection is horrid

This team’s offence is going to stink all year if he keeps this up
I hate this season so much already
Anyway I really dislike Stevens 3 small guards line up.
This is the team that was supposed to beat everyone else?? Can't even beat those deers at home. If we lose to the Sixers we're doomed. Should've kept Isaiah and Crowder instead of that bitch *** Irving
Fire all coaches who use a lineup on the floor of three point guards for extended minutes and lose the games.
Offense is disgusting to watch sometimes
Irving is really bad at playing the screens and picks.
Marcus smart doing the same garbage **** Marcus smart has always done. Great
I'm convinced Kyrie's body has been possessed by that one kid who always gets picked last in gym class.
Kyrie has been trash
Kyrie, I want my money back.
I want my Nets pick and IT back, they can keep Jae for their trouble.
I'd rather have an injured IT than this kind of trash
Celtics team defense is atrocious. Going to take some time

I hope franklin is enjoying his new team... the one that goes all-in on winning championships

(love ya franklin)

Thank you JazzAvenues. These threads are the single greatest addition to this forum since forever.

It's been a bad couple days for I-Celtics.

I predict a pretty bad season for them. Hayward or no (they are tons better with Hayward, obv) that is a dysfunctional team all Frankenstein'd together with parts that don't really fit. No defense, not enough offense, chemistry and depth to compensate.

As a bonus, here are some Celtic fan quotes after their 2nd loss of the season to give them an 0-2 record.

Soo good love to see them loss after selling out some of their best players. Hayward might be lucky he is injured so he doesn't have to be a part of this.

Want worse news Denver fans? I don't think you're the playoff team that you think you are.

"The Jazz announcers are pretty good"

Boler is HORRIBLE. About 3/4 of the way through the 3rd quarter, he announced Favors had scored all his points in the 4th quarter. Two moronic mistakes in the same sentence: not knowing what quarter it was and somehow not knowing Favors had scored in the 1st half. Bolerjack is an embarrassment. It's lucky he has a great voice - and a shame someone like Locke doesn't.
