After the Timberwolves blew a double digit lead in the fourth (again), I thought I would take a peak into their forums and see how they are reflecting on the state of their franchise, the Gobert trade, and the fact that we own so many of their picks. It benefits the Jazz if the Wolves are down, though people were thinking the benefits would start in 2029, not in 2023.
After looking at their quotes, I realized anyone with a shred of common decency would not share them and would let the poor Timberwolves fans to suffer in peace.
So here are the quotes.
Per Basketball Reference, the Wolves' odds of the Timberwolves missing the play-in now stand at 48%
Per tankathon we have the hardest remaining schedule in the West. We really need to turn things around quickly.
Let’s make a list of past times/hobbies less painful than Timberwolves fandom:
rubbing salt in your eyes
paper cutting in between your fingers
snorting crushed up glass
Actually being mauled by a wolf. At least it wouldn't last my entire life.
Chewing off hangnails until they bleed
Dick in a blender
What will you do if we miss the playoffs and our pick to Utah lands #1 in the lottery?
The only time we've ever come close to having something worth enjoying (last year) the entire rest of the league mocked us for being happy about it. It's just not worth it at this point.
Gotta laugh right? Beats crying
Laugh because it was my first thought when I saw the dumbass Rudy trade.
Forget about "2029", who knows if we'll even be a playoff team next year.
Swear profusely and curse this team, but then religiously follow offseason news and set myself up for despair next season, as per usual. Also drown myself in twins baseball so I can be hurt in a different sport.
Kick myself for believing any Minnesota sport could ever turn the ****ing corner..
Trade Gobert for Kessler straight up
And Kessler… FFS
Man listen, this hit me harder than I thought it would. But at least we have a 31 year old center who can’t catch, makes 41 million, and can’t close games! And no draft picks for the next 5 years!
Expectations are a sonofabitch
The optimist take is that we're garbage against bad teams, so who cares if the schedule is hard. It'd be peak Wolves to decide to be awful across the board down the stretch though.
Double that 48%. This team has shown to be consistent in one area all season: folding in high-leverage situations
Jazz are about to get a lottery pick out of us
Three more lottery picks after this year as well. Ouch.
If the pick we give up is top 10 this year that's a huge disaster. We desperately need whoever they draft too, we literally are relying on a 36 year old Mike Conley as our PG for next season.
Wemby + Kessler should be a pretty solid defensive combo.
We could go 0-9 over the next couple weeks and I wouldn't be upset, tough opponents
I personally would be pretty upset if the Wolves lost 9 games in a row in a year where we don’t have our first round pick
I see Vando and Kessler doing well and just can't think about how much better those two would be than Rudy and now add all the picks we dumped.
I honestly just get angry watching them now because even if we were still blowing leads we would still have a bright future to look forward to. Now we have no cap space and no picks.
At least in years past, we knew exactly what product we were getting. No one really created any high expectations, but after last yr and how they finally put a decent winning product on the court. It's hard to realize we could be right back where we were before.
Wolves basketball is supposed to be a nice reprieve from everyday stress to relax and watch a fun game. These games are getting less fun and I’m considering finding something else to do during these games
I would rather lose watching Kessler play in the wolves, and having all our draft picks. Than watch the wolves lose with Rudy and not have any draft picks. Kessler for all his faults is pretty fun to watch.
It’s really bad right now and sadly feels like we squandered a huge opportunity. The league can change fast, but these moves we’ve made have severely limited our potential upside around Ant. I’ve personally chosen to stop watching - they aren’t worth my time and I’m not so connected due to other life priorities that it feels like a major loss. At this point I’m just mad so tuning out allows me to forget the ******** Kahnelly pulled.
Honestly never thought I’d feel this way about this team. I’ve watched them through all the bad years but now we’re bad and don’t even have many of our picks so what’s the point? Will definitely watch the playoffs if we make it though.
I quit watching games because of how disappointing the team has been. Might as well cancel BSN..
To think we had to go out and get Mike Conley because we can’t get ENOUGH of Rudy … Jesus it’s so bad.
I don't mind the trade for Rudy. I do mind however, all the picks we gave up. I have always said that only 3rd rated GM's give away unprotected first, not to mention multiple ones. You look at the best like Ainge, Morey, or Presti- those guys NEVER give up assets. They instead of the opposite, and strike only when the iron is hot.
The FO definitely jumped the gun. They thought this team was ready to go to the next level and be a top 5 team if they acquired Gobert. Instead, they should've just let the team naturally progress forward- AND THEN make the necessary moves.
Listening to the Bill Simmons podcast today and they were basically just laughing at the Wolves saying Gobert for Kessler isn't even a good trade on it's own, and they gave up all the other players and picks along with it. It is going to be miserable for a while if the winning isn't there.
I look at it like debt. Life can continue to exist if you have debt, you can still have fun and be successful, but there is this dark cloud hanging over you while you are sitting there at a disadvantage trying to go on while paying for your past mistakes. This is where the Wolves are at now. They can still be good, they can still succeed, but everything is more difficult and less fun because one stupid decision that did not work out.
I'm just sad, man. Idk.
Im starting to think Tim Connely is a Utah Jazz operative. Was he not suspicious when Danny ainge was the one throwing in extra 2RPs (not the lakers) for the wolves to send away the 26 year old secondary scorer having an ultra efficient season for this washed up geriatric midget?
Gobert was advertised as a walking top 5 defense. With him in the court, that’s what we are. Now whether that was worth our long term future and trade flexibility… most likely not.
Nobody thought Walker Kessler was going to translate to the NBA as well as he has. He was picked 22nd and is a borderline ROY candidate - that doesn't happen often, so using his current play to grade the Rudy trade is a "hindsight is 20/20" thing.
Can we just once not turn into a cesspool after a loss? Just once?
Lost to a warriors team without curry, wiggins and green. Nice
I know everyone wants to complain, but it's absurd how every team hits every shot against us in the last 5 minutes
It's scary how much we need every pick we make to hit for this team to go anywhere.
I don't think I've ever been less enthused with a Wolves team than I am this season. Long time fan needs a long time break from this squad.
If my hockey team wasn't tanking I would have switched weeks ago. It sucks.
so happy we get to watch non-shooters and non-scorers take more shots now that big bad DLo is gone
We traded 4 firsts to have a worse roster compared to last year, when we were a play-in team.
Next we get to play on TNT and watch Charles Barkley call us complete morons for making the worst trade in NBA history. joy.
I wanna go back to having fun man
When things get tense, we have no discernible offense. No sets. No off-ball screens. No confidence. And because of this, NO lead is safe.
It’s insane how we are going to miss the play in. It’s insane how this team went from exciting with a great future last season to having no future next season. The next 10 years have been ruined by a single trade
(Kessler) KAT Vanderbilt/McDaniels Ant DLO
Why was a trade even necessary?!
It‘s very on brand for minnesota sports for the Wolves to go from the best season since 04 with great outlook for the future IN ONE ****ING OFFSEASON to go to…. this LMAO. **** YOU TIM CONNELLY
Dallas scored 12/15 last possessions
Wizards scored 9/9
Charlotte scored 7/8
Warriors scored 7/8 before last 1.30
In last 4 games the ball has a chip that allows it go in against the Wolves in clutch time. Teams can shoot any sort of garbage like Kuzma a week ago or Kyrie before, or Klay today. It will go in anyways.
Is it bad that I don't think Gobert being available tonight remakes much of a difference?
**** Gobert, **** Connelly, **** me
Feels like this is the game where MIN just isn't gonna make the playoffs. Looking at their rest of season schedule, and them losing the same way for the same couple reasons, I just don't see it turning around that drastically. :/
I kind of miss being a really bad team. At least then we could say the future is bright and internally justify the frustrating basketball we were watching. Now it just hurts
I would rather have just been down 30 right out of the gate to make that loss hurt less
This has been by far the most disappointing Wolves season I’ve witnessed, which is saying a lot.
Man it’d be nice to have pics, walker kessler, dlo, Beasley, and vando right about now. **** Tim Connelly.
Hey everyone. I know us Wolves fans are a weathered bunch, but if this team is bringing a lot of negativity into your life, please find the strength to step away for a week or two. Basketball should be fun, not a chore. Take care of yourself.
Also, fire Connelly.
I’d rather be back in 2011-2013 years when this team was just hot garbage but we all knew it and expected it. It’s painful to watch the worst GM in sports desecrate this team after one positive good year we had and now it’s just watching a mediocre team play even below mediocre expectations. I just don’t enjoy being a fan of this team at all, I have no hope and I have no reason to hope for anything positive for a long time
Imagine if the Jazz get the 1st overall draft pick (Wemby) with our pick. It's possible now.
Death. Taxes. And the Timberwolves getting punked in the 4th quarter
No worries boys, low point is still coming when we lose to the lakers with 3 of our players from last years team
Conley is not even a starting level pg at this point. Ainge fleeced Kahnelly again.
This team has had some real unique and heartbreaking losses
losing to the warriors b squad is not a good look
Mike Conley contemplating retiring after the game lmao
Imagine going from playing point guard for Quin Snyder and Will Hardy to playing small forward for Chris Finch.
After looking at their quotes, I realized anyone with a shred of common decency would not share them and would let the poor Timberwolves fans to suffer in peace.
