Rules in your own created thread

Mods,

Can the original poster of a thread impose rules for that thread alone that, if broken, can result in an infraction?

Edit; So long as the thread follows all site rules and such.

You can start your own forum and have your own rules and be your own admin.

I seriously doubt you can do it thread by thread.

A mod will have to answer about infractions based on your private forum, but I'm guessing the mods will still have to enforce, and not the admin.

But that's not the question.

The question, put in context is, If one were to post a thread "How do gay people feel about straight sexuality in the media/movies", and you, as the thread poster, specifically state "Please no 'I support/do not support gay marriage' talk", and a couple political tools start bickering over if gay marriage should be legalized nation wide or not.

It feels like it's uncharted area. I'm not for making rules about rules about rules about rules, but given history at other forums and how they've evolved into it, I feel like this is the natural evolution. Might even curb the amount of threadsh***ing/highjacking that happens.

To cumbersome for a number of reasons. To many posters with to many rules in to many threads. To hard to moderate and control. Attempts to abuse the system by posters.

As for this thread hijacking stuff. Well no debate or topic stays on the exact original point. Conversations flow. So do threads.

What he said, except for "Too" instead of "to".

And I completely understand this. It takes a certain amount of control and maturity from a thread creator to understand what's reasonable to set as a rule and not, and not all of us have that.

But think of it from the General Discussion point of view: "This thread is about UGLI's mother. Post anything you want about her, but you can't use the letter's C or F. Starting now."

So if I dropped the word "for" or "calm" into that thread I get an infraction? Seems draconian to me.

Edit: Not to mention that this place would become a graveyard.

But that's what's fun about it. Trying to bicker under the most obscure and ludicrous rules imaginable. It's like Congress Simulator 2013

To a less entertainment side of things, if people actually follow the rules of the poster, it can be used as a tool to draw out underlying issues that normal would not be gotten at. Example; the effect of the United Negro college fund. I start one of these right now, I get 6 pages of idiots calling me a racist when all I really wanted was to see how many of those that received this scholarship play sports at the collegiate level.

Or if I wanted to have a discussion about Thorium based Nuclear power plants, but didn't want to have the right wing "HOW DARE OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS", or the left wing be all "OMG, IT COULD EXPLODE! GLOBAL WARMING BLAH BLAH BLAHBALHLAHL"

And I'm not saying the mod's would have to police these. That's not how it works.. the OP, and/or the people in the thread police them. In the event of a violation, they ask politely to stop. If it continues, they report to a mod forum(possibly a thread in this section, or a PM box, or something like that), and that's where the teeth come in.

It's a little extra work for you guys, yeah. I get it. But what can I say... It's the off season, and since the Syrian thing blew over I've been kinda bored.

For a game yeah but actual penalties that lead to a ban from the site? No thank you.
