Snowblowers

For all but the longest driveways I think they're more trouble than they're worth.

Kind of this.

I bought a new one three years ago for like 600 dollars. I rarely use it. It gets jammed up all the time if the snow is heavy/wet, its takes up allot of room in my garage, and doesn't get the ice or my steps or my porch so I still have to use a shovel for those things anyway.

Come to think of it, hey kiri, want to buy my snow blower?

Fwiw, if I'm choosing between snow blower or shovel and they are the same price I definitely take the snow blower..... But they are not worth what they cost imo

Just looking into it, not super committed, definitely not in the 600 dollar range, but I do have a large driveway and sidewalk. I live in a cul de sac and have quite a large portion of one side of the circle.

Also, maybe worth noting, I'm a girl, weak, work full time, school full time, young kids full time, and hate shoveling...so would love something easier, if it's not easier will need to reconsider, but when I see gramps rocking the snow blower it looks tempting.

Find some neighboring teen boy and see what they would charge to shovel your walks.

Sadly the oldest boy in the hood is mine, he's seven, and I love him but he can't get the ice ...however maybe I can creep around the surrounding blocks for talent.

I respectfully disagree. I have had the same snowblower for 5 or 6 years now and have never had a problem with it. I don't use it if there is less than an inch or so, but any more than that and it cuts the time it takes me to clear my driveway and walks substantially.

I think it is relevant to point out that my house faces north, so 2/3 of my driveway doesn't see direct sunlight during the winter. Not much natural melting.

I bought a pretty good $400 one four years ago and it's still sitting in its box, despite a solid half dozen to dozen snowstorms we've had out here over that span.

Sounds logical

You made a good investment I reckon. Buy low sell high. That bad boy will be worth it's weight in gold if you're patient
